When I turn on the camera it says that the card is write protect. is there anyway to fix this?

Check the manual to discover how write protect is achieved with your particular camera/card Some card rely on a silver foil stick[Smart Media] other have a switch. Compact flash rely on a control on the camera. So you will have to have a good browse through the manual - do not forget that there is a Full manual in PDF on the software disk.

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup- Select Format - You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.
