Same problem There is probably little or no more color ink. However, I don't need to print in color. Can't I change some setting to have printer no worry about the color cartridge? I tried removing it and leaving it empty, that didn't work. I tried resetting the entire machine, don;t know it I didn't do it right, but also that didn't work.

HP printers use a little bit of color ink, even if you only print in black. This is done by HP inorder to keep the color printhead jets clear.

You can select "greyscale only" by clicking on [Preferences] and going to the advanced screen. Choose "use greyscale only".

When you print a color page, the printer will only print black/grey. However ... it will still use a tiny bit of each color ink.

Oh, yeah .. they make lots of money, too.

How do I print in black only some of the colors are out

It depends on the make and model of printer, but I can probably get you close enough. Go:

Start, Printer & Faxes, Choose the printer from the list, Printer, Print Preferences. At Color/Intensity choose Manual, Set. Set all to 0 except black. OK, Apply.

On some printers - Print, Properties, Maintenance, Ink Cartridge Settings, Black Only.

I hope this helps you. If it does, please take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

I have an almost full black ink and my color ink is running a little low.. but when I did a test page.. color prints, but the black does not.. I did a couple cleanings.. like 4 times.. and totally wasted...

because you don't use it enough the nozzel is probably blocked with dried ink, even the cleaning option wont work in this case, the only thing you can do is to get help from a professionnal technician to unblock the nozel, some times diping the printing head in hot water unglogges it and some times the technician needs to force a cleaning/ink solution through the nozel with a surringe, but what ever you do (DO NOT USE ALCOHOL) you will damage the print head.

I bought the wrong printer for my needs and the cartridges for my HP Photosmart C309g-m run out when I don't even want color. Is there a way to set permanately, not with every printing secssion to use...

Hi

Yes you can set it to print permanently. You have to go to Printer proprieties and go to color option and choose Gray scale printing only and this will not use the other inks at all but black cartridge only for printing.

8560 will not print in color from Office 2010 programs such as Word and Powerpoint. Some photos will print in color. The 8560 is connected via Netgear router to a new (in March) Dell Inspiron running...

probably drivers have become corrupt it has nothing to do with office 2010.
first do a firmware update and then update the drivers that you use.

Describe how to change printer to print only black from my computer. I am out of color ink and don't know how to change the settings from my computer.

Unfortunately, you need both ink cartridges to print with this printer.

you can print grayscale (black/white) by:

This for XP:

Start
Settings
Printers and faxes
Right click the printer icon an select printer preferences
Click the color tab and select grayscale

Windows 7:

Start
Devices and Printers
Right click the printer icon
Select printer preferences
Select features tab
Scroll down and add a dot to grayscale

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Have put new cartridges in and only prints yellow lines

Remove all cartridges, make sure any tape has been removed from over the nozzle. Ensure that everything has been installed properly, then use your printer (prompts on device, or in printer>control panel) to print some test pages, realign heads, etc.

The printer keeps doing the alignment and saying that there is a problem. My color ink cartridge is low but I would still like to print with black ink. I don't know if the color cartridge being low affects...

Replace your color cartridge and power printer on. The color cartridge is probably empty (even though there might be a little ink left in it). Many inkjet printers require the color cartridge for composite black even if you are not printing in color.

The ink cartridges need to be replaced very often epson 810

You can try to change your print quality to a lower setting. This saves a lot on toner. If you are not printing for anything super important you can set some printers to "fast draft" or "draft" quality and that saves a ton. I personally dont usually need to print anything of high quality so I went to my local "Everything" store(not sure if I should use company names) and bought an HP, the cheapest color printer they had which was $30.00 The black and color cartridges together cost about the same as the printer. But I use the lowest setting which is the "fast draft" setting and set it to print in black ink only, and only change that when I NEED something in color and it uses very little and prints very fast.

Pixma MP830 is printing things green that should be red

when you change all new cartridges (make sure all cartridge ok, and the cartridge pins connection ok) still red color lost, it is the trouble at print head ink chanel some of that is too dry for longer time less using , most CANON printer head is separated from the ink cartridge, two way you may try:
1) take out the ink cartridge, drop down a little the special cleaner (best clean tools buy from dealer), to the head ink chanel hole, then set back the ink cartridge and waiting minutes
2) try put the print head bottom surface touch a little cleaner or water 1-2 hrs, if you can take out the print head unit. still not fixed for some case that should change the print head unit.

Print Color

You probably need to check a few things:
a) What ink cartridges have you installed? You can get a cartridge that's just grey ink.
b) What printer settings have you set up on your PC? If you're only printing in greyscale, this could be the problem. You need to set it to colour printing.
