Question about VCRs

1 Answer

Samsung SV 675B

We have an ongoing problem with a Samsung SV 675B VCR. One of the VCRs at Queensbury Upper School in Bedfordshire.

Most of the time when you insert a tape it does nothing except flash AUTO on the display, which then returns to 00:00, and none of the function controls seems to work. On other occasions it will work normally.

The remote control now seems to have been lost (which onbiously screws things up somewhat more). However, before it was lost we searched the menus for some explanation and didn't get anywhere. Does this ring any bells with anyone ?

Whilst we hunt for the remote control I thought I'd and see whether anyone out there could help and there was some function which we have been overlooking.

Any help you can offer would be most gratefully received.

Many thanks and kind regards

Tim Edwards

Re: Samsung SV 675B

This is just the usual problem with the belt drives in the cassette mechanism. Your unit needs a belt job.

Samsung VCR SV-5000W Tracking Problem Symptom: I've used Maxell VCR Head Cleaner VP-100. Still having small white streaks across screen. I can apply small amount of pressure to bottom or top of VCR deck...

Your chassis ground is intermittant. Remove the VCR cover and look just behind the head drum. You will see two copper tangs sticking out, these supply the ground to the grey chassis and are a pressure fit. Remove the 7 screws from the grey chassis, two are underneath the VCR, two on top near the VHS tape opening, and three larger screws are on top of the chassis (2 near back and 1 near front). This will allow you to lift the grey chassis about a 1/2" and you can then reach below the copper tangs and gently pry them up. Reinstall the 7 screws and the VCR cover and the snow will disappear.

VCR Samsung SV-5000W

You should take off the top cover with the set unplugged and see if there is a main fuse that popped. If there is, put in another fuse,. If that blows, then your going to need to have the power supply in this unit repaired. Good Luck

Samsung vr3607 vcr is locked

following is pasted from SV-7000W manual: 1 To lock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button for approximately five seconds. Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is displayed. If a cassette is in the VCR when you lock it, the cassette will first be ejected. 2 To unlock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button again for approximately five seconds. Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is no longer displayed. If that fails, try the same thing using the play/stop button. Cheers
