Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera
When I turn the camera on I don't get a picture in the camera focus lenz. .. I get a black screen with horizonal lines running through it. (Most of the time: 95% this black scrren happens; sometimes it will focus on what I'm pointing at & I can take a picture, 5% of the time.) Should I take it to a local camera store to get this fixed, or what can you recommend?

SOURCE: Won't Focus!
This is probably a CCD failure. I had the same problem and it was fixed for free. Go to the Canon website and you will find info on returning for free repair. Check out the following website: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct

See this link. The symptoms you describe indicate that the image sensor (CCD) has failed. Canon will repair this at no cost, regardless of warranty status. Contact them as shown if you are in the US. Contact your regional Canon service facility if not.
