Please tap the F8 key as soon as you restart. keep tapping it . If you still cannot go to the safe mode and the normal mode, you may need to reinstall your windows.

"a blue screen error" is different from "an error has been detected and windows hass been shut down to prevent damage to computer" if you are asked by the computer to do safe mode and its just circling around then try repairing the windows using the os disc. once you boot to the dvd rom you boot to the os disc then instead of reinstalling os try to repair it first. just follow the instructions from the screen.

try f2. if f2 will not work which is same thing with f8. your keyboard keys might not be working. try an external keyboard first. then update the bios. then restart computer. if keys or f2 and f8 still not working then have it replaced.

Hi there !

-try t drain everything out of the computer first; remove the power adapter then remove the battery; after 1 minute try again; if problem persists run diagnostics
--while the computer is off, press and hld the "Fn" key then press the power button at the same time to start the test; note down error message then consult manufacturer for the code obtained. if no errors found it is a windows problem; you need to reinstall windows on the computer

cheers!

The blue screen typically would have a error message on it. I would recommend hitting the F8 key once a second after turning the computer on to get the windows diagnostic menu with choices such as safe mode. If you can select this then try a system restore point to when the computer was working properly. If you are unable to have it start up by hitting the F8 key then you either have a failing hard drive or a corrupt windows.

Blue screen

Which operating system you are using??

You can follow the given steps to avoid blue screen error..
Start Windows in Safe Mode:

Step1: Turn on your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly from your keyboard. You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears. It will display the Advanced Boot Options screen.

Step2: From Advanced Boot Options screen, choose Safe Mode option then press Enter.

Step3: If Windows loads and works fine in Safe Mode, a bad driver is probably causing the error. Uninstall device drivers and reinstall them. If Windows experiences issues in Safe Mode also, repair your hardware.

Startup repair:

Step1: Shut down your computer and then restart it in Safe Mode (see step1).

Step2: From Advanced Boot Options screen, select "Repair Your Computer" and hit Enter. Choose your preferred keyboard layout and then click "Next."

Step1: Click "Startup Repair", and follow the on-screen instruction .Startup repair can solve this problem.

System Repair:

Step1: Follow step1 and step2 from Startup repair section.

Step3: Now select system restore from the System Recovery Options menu. And follow the on-screen instruction to select a restore point.

Wont boot in safe mode

start your laptop before booting windows press f8 button continuously

ndows 2000 / XP users

bulb.gif If you are running Safe Mode because you cannot get into Windows, you may want to first try loading the last known good configuration.

To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers, if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

Trouble Getting into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe mode - If after several attempts you are unable to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe Mode as the computer is booting into Windows, turn off your computer. When the computer is turned on the next time Windows should notice that the computer did not successfully boot and give you the Safe Mode screen.

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.

Once you're done in Safe mode if you want to get back into Normal Windows restart the computer like you normally would and let it boot normally. Click here to get additional information about getting out of Safe mode.

Unable to have safe mode screen come up from hitting f8

When the F8 key doesn't work, there is another (less desirable) way to force the computer to start up with the option screen to go into safe mode is to interrupt the Windows start-up process. As soon as the Windows screen comes up showing that it is booting up, remove the power from the computer. When you restart, Windows will detect that it did not start up correctly on the last attempt and will automatically go into the option screen to allow you to choose Safe Mode.

Windows shut down to prevent damage

You need to boot your system into Safe Mode by pressing F8 just before the Windows startup screen loads, once in Safe Mode do a system restore to a previous date to when your system was working.

This should sort out your problem.

Blue Screen

You could try turning the computer off at the switch when this happens. Sometimes it is a very temporary problem. You would need to wait a few minutes then turn it back on and restart your computer.

Getting blue screen after start up

Try booting up to the recovery CD, it sounds like a software conflict error that is locking up your computer.

Try 1st if you can get into safe mode (hitting F8 when you first apply power to the computer, till the safe mode screen comes up)

Then try booting up to the last known good configuration (same F8 different selection on screen)

THEN try the recovery CD.

Safe mode business

safe mode automatically comes up when you didn't shut down properly. Just select boot as normal or last known good configuration then you are good to go.

uninstall any new hardware or software you have recently installed to cause the problem in the first place. If you haven't installed anything then windows should just start normally.

good luck

ERROR MESSAGE READS...

Try starting it in safe mode. (Hold F8 after power on). If you get your icon screen go to start, run and type in msconfig. Click startup and disable all the items. Hit OK and try a normal restart. This error can be caused by a bad program starting up.
