Model lsr5132pq0. Why won't it agitate?

I have an older model (about 15 yrs old) that a similar problem. I turned it on its side thinking it was a broken drive belt. There was no belt because it was a direct drive. I removed the motor and found a white plastic coupling (285753A) that had its teeth broken off. I found the part at a local parts store for about $10.

Older Kenmore dryer model 86568110 wont start, i can see the heat element glowing but after pushing start button nothing happens.

Sounds like a broken belt. Do not continue to turn the dryer on until belt is replaced. With no air blowing over them, could overheat and cause a fire or burn them out.

My Whirpool dryer Mod. LEN 2000LWG, type DWSR-ELE-2406028-CV54, Imperial Series, was working fine, but after the second medium sized load it stopped drying the clothes. I finally noticed that the inside...

The Hum most commonly means that the drum belt on your dryer is probably broken
There is a simple way to test for this.
1 remove the clothes from the dryer.
2 put your hand inside the drum and turn it. If it is easy to turn, the belt is broken. If it is difficult to turn, the belt is good. You may be looking at motor problems.

Almost all of the time, it is a broken belt.
The link below has the full procedure for changing the belt.
Hope this helps,

Whirlpool imperial series dryer heats not spinning

This problem is almost always a broken belt. Yes you can do it yourself.
Go to repairclinic. com and put in your model number for the exploded view of your dryer. Locate the belt part number and belt orientation.

How do I teake apart a Whirlpool calypso to get to belt

You really need a service manual to be able to disassemble this unit unless you just want to rip it apart. Google your model # to find a supplier - they are out there - but the manual I have is Part # 8178010 and is for certain Whirlpool Calpyso models (I actually bought it as a close equivalent to the Sears version).
