Question about Bosch SHV68 Built-in Dishwasher

2 Answers

My SHV6803UC/15 seems to be cycling properly, but it's not cleaning the way it used to. I noticed a lot of soap residue all over the glasses, dishes and wall and base areas. We do have hard water, but have never seen this 6yr old unit act this way, are there any tips you can offer before calling in a repairman or replacing the unit. Advice welcome, --Phil

Ther is a hose which goes from the left hand side water chamber to the sump, this hose gets blocked and not enough water fills into the machine. Remove the left hand side panel of the dishwasher to access the chamber and hose, remove, clean & refit the hose. good luck.if any parts are required a good company i have dealt eith before is

Hi Phil, First I would check you drain ... Make sure it is clean, clear and drains fast...if you have a garbage disposal make sure it is also clean...also check that the drain hose is above the bottom of the sink... hope this helps you...

Dishes do not clean, although the water is hot and the soap dispenses. Dishes and glasses have a cloudy residue at times, and dishes sometimes have small food particles baked onto the surfaces.

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

The dishes do not rinse properly--despite rinse

run some calcium lime and scale remover throught the unit on an empty wash cycle just to get rid of any build up that may be there.
turn the rinse aid down to about half way.
also check the phosphours content of you washing agent.
there is a lot of factor involved with leaving film on the dishes, it could also be residual soap content that is sticking to your dishes.
reduce the amount of soap a little.does not matter if it is liquid or powder.
once every three months you need to run cleaner through the machine.
last thing but very important make sure the incoming water temp i no lowe rthan 120 degrees.

Extra suds due to liquid soap in the machine overflowing. How do I drain it?

This is strange. Are you using an electric dishwasher liquid soap, OR are you using a dish soap that you manually use to wash dishes?
REGULAR dish soap liquid that is not specifically made for dishwashers creates a foamy suds with lots of bubbles that will in fact bubble out of your dishwasher. on the other hand. Electric Dishwasher detergent will NOT create foamy suds with lots of bubbles.
Switch your soap. The next cycle any residue suds or soap will be gone as long as you use the proper liquid detergent. I would also recommend using a rinse agent which further helps break down and rinse off residue.

Bad smell on dried dishes after being washed.Stale water smell.

correct, no filters to clean, but what you are smelling is soap residues that have built up on the heating element and when it goes thru the heat dry cycle, it burns the soap causing the odors.
trying the cleaners you have may help but the cause is the residues. you need to use a d/w cleaner like d/w magic or citric acid. if you just run the unit with the waterheat option and vinegar in a bowl right side up in the top rack, it should rinse out the residues then dont use to omuch soap and only use dry powder soap. no tablets or liquids.
run hot water at the faucet first and then be sure to use the heat option. it may take a few cycles to get rid of the odor but it will go away as you get the unit cleaned out.

Dishes are not clean; lots of soap residue

Try the combo liguidgel powder packets and wash on the potscrubber plus setting. We saw a drastic improvement with this setting. I have just about gotten out of the habit of thorough pre-washing, but I do rinse heavily soiled items.

Dishes have soap residue despite using rinse aid. Machine is quite abrasive on coffee mugs etc. Unit is Fisher & Paykel DD605SS

use less soap.....excess soap in the rinse cycle will not allow the dishes to rinse properly causing white etching on the glasses and the dishes will have that gritty feeling
