Question about HP MX703 17 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor

1 Answer

HP mx703 monitor does not power on; ticking noise

I have an HP mx703 monitor that does not power on. When plugged in it makes a regular "tick" sort of sound. A fuse popping, maybe? The power button does nothing.

After getting the case off the only odd thing I see, apart from copious amounts of dust, is a single loose wire that looks like it "should" be plugged in to something on the CRT box, but doesn't look like it broke or slipped off of anything.

It seems that the transformer of the monitor has gone bad, as it makes a click sound. The cable could be the one which gets connect to the picture tube, or just for earthing.

Shrey

Try a monitor reset. Power off the PC and monitor. Unplug the monitor and hold down the monitor's power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and then power up the system.

My monitor was working fine. Turned it off for the evening and the next morning it doesn't work. Doesn't seem to be getting power.

Here's a few things to try. First, make sure the power cord you're using is good. For most monitors the cord not only plugs into the wall it also plugs into the back of the monitor. Make sure both connections are good. If you have a spare power cord, maybe one from you desktop computer, you can try replacing the cord on the monitor to see if you can get it to powers up. Many monitors have replacable fuse. On some monitors you replace the fuse from the outside. Other monitors require you to take the back off to get at the fuse. If none of these easy fixes work your monitor may have a more serious problem. If so, replacing it may be your best option if you don't want to go through a lot of PC board debug.

Hp F 2105 MONITOR volume and sleep problem

this is not HP.com sorry, its a BULLsession blog, mostly guessing
QUESTION TO YOU.
no computer stated, 10000s exist, 1981 to now, endlessl....
we get you have a display connected to what>? who knows.
I hate guessing
but is display connected to a desk top PC?
that it.
so if you barrow and other display does it work ok?
it has 2 cable (not power) one is DVI other is VGA
which one are you using.

ok i see your confusiong
yes, the monitor has its one menu's and the bad designers
dont tell you that, all pop up windows need to say who is talking to you in this case "F2105" is not in the window.
geeks design it and this is what you get.
even windows 10 does this inane acts,, it pops up
and forget to say , I'm W10, only the blue color dark is the clue)
so dont feel bad, its the lame geek disease there.
what does this mean
that you need o learn the buttons on your monitor
one is to clear those screens its in the manual.
best is dont use those buttons. if possible. on side of monitor
the monitor has its own tiny computer brain that is helping you.
avoid it.

the button on most monitors (mine has 5)
menu button,. press one to get menu press again to exit
some have an exit button push it.
lost your manuals>? hp.com has them, ask.

your monitor has speakers, those need to be connected. to the PC.

Volume pop up in the middle of my screen

no photos of said window presented? i cant see them?
must be OSD? the monitor brain on screen display (menu)?
even with the DVI cable pulled?
only a monitor stated, w1907, no PC
some monitors have button lock
read the manual ?oops HP deleted it...
it tells you to push the menu key on the monitor for 10 seconds
and it unlocks. (4 buttons right side left button is MENU)
doom?
that power deal sounds super bad, like the power supply is bad.
if the monitor fails by its self not plugged it to a PC
then the monitors is bad.
try a reset on it? ( power off for 1hr, or off then plug in with power button held? or power on with menu held (wild guesses but common practice)
ok found your manual page 4-8 shows menu page advanced
list line in list factory reset.
but if the keys are dead, and power lamp failing
the power supply is no good or worse. worse is always possible.
and expensive

ever see the support page, read the guides
?

No power no lights good fuse...

Try a different power outlet? Possible shut down of DC supply due to short circuit can be heard if listen close at back of TV on plug in or power up with remote for a quick squeel then ticking sound or tick tick tick and nothing.

I know about that volume pop up that refuses to go away. I figured out that it goes away if I press the "Menu" button. If that doesn't work, I have no idea what will.
