Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

Logging On I used my computer yesterday, today I went to turn it on and it does nothing. The power light comes on but it does not boot up, sits with blank screen. I have tried removing the battery and rebooting, did not work. Is there a reset switch or another avenue to try?

Re: Logging On

Sounds like you have a hardware problem. try booting from a windows install cd just to see if it will boot if it does you have a bad harddrive. if no boot you have a mother board problem. check your warranty or take it to a repair shop

Earlier today I was using my Acer Aspire with no problems. Now when I try to boot it up, the green power light comes on, the fan starts whirring but thats it. The screen stays black and it can sit there...

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

This can still be fixed by doing power drain.
>Take the battery out of the computer
>Unplug the ac adapter from the computer.
>Press and hold the power button for about 15secs.
>Let go of the power button.
>Put the battery and plug the ac adapter back into the computer.
>Turn the computer back on.

You should get the display to come up. For a more detailed instruction, please visit

Worked fine yesterday - will not turn on today - kitchen

When you say the machine is dead do you mean you are getting no LED lights at all or do you mean it is not booting up? No power and no post are two different things. With no power you get absolutely nothing at all. With no post you may have some LED lights but nothing comes up on the screen. You said power and power supply tested ok. How are you testing it? I need more info please.

Comp fail

Try to boot the computer with your windows installation disc. If it will boot off the disc, try to perform a start up repair. When you write back, give as much information as you can about the computer

Wont boot no bios screen nothing

Check your memory card. Reseat or clean its edge connector with soft eraser.Do this after you shut it down properly , battery disconnected, and no any other power source is connected.

That is the first thing to suspect. Or try it also with a spare good ram card.

Will not power on

First try disconnecting ALL power to the laptop - not just at switching off at the wall but pull the plug and remove the battery as well. leave it for 30 seconds or so and put it all back and try again.

If no luck then press F8 on boot until the boot options screen appears and select 'Last Known Configuration'

If no luck then is this XP or Vista?
