Try running a firmware update. You can get the firmware at the following link:

If you have not ran your windows updates yet you might try to do that. Alot of issues like these were fixed with service pack 2 for windows XP. Hope this able to help you.

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D won't burn discs. G4, OS 10.4.11

So the driver is either 'malfunctioning' or it's you know what revision firmware the drive is using? Your disk authoring software may tell you this. The latest version is 1.22 which you can get by Googling PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D firmware. Or go to the Pioneer website. I do not know how to upgrade the firmware for the recorder in MAC Land, in PC Land the firmware update is a simple executable file.

If you are running this version you can try to reflash it. Have you tried another brand of DVD disc? Some discs are less compatible than others. Try another brand of DVD

My dvd burneer wont reconise dvd discs

This is correct, as there is no TOC on a blank disk there is nothing to read. it is your writing software that identifies blank media when inserted, so you may wish to check your software is appropriate for your requirements Cheers :D

Depends on where you live. I'd buy these at Fry's electronics stores in California because I can bring in my equipment to check for size and fit rather than taking my chances online

DVR-112D DVD RW Dual Layer

Check with a NEW PC - DVD Cable, if it is NOT that.. then I am sorry, but I reckon it's gone faulty somehow? Especially if it causes the PC to not boot. This is a common occurrence, even for NEW units..
