This is what it means : The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. The local socket is configured in such a way that it cannot use any of the SSL cipher suites.
Possible causes include: (a) both SSL2 and SSL3 are disabled, (b) All the individual SSL cipher suites are disabled, or (c) the socket is configured to handshake as a server, but the certificate associated with that socket is inappropriate for the Key Exchange Algorithm selected. Follow this link and it will explain it for you.

How To Enable SMTP SSL Port on Sharp Network Scanner

From time to time I will get an odd error when setting up scanning to email on a Sharp copier that says:

(SMTP-SSL) Port is disabled. Consult your system admin.

http://i.fixya.net25408640-smf2r4tpyjjq4h3ju4xuhwdx-5-0_0.png

I'll admit, this error had me puzzled the first few times I saw it, and I thought the problem was within the router, not in the Sharp printer. The first time I saw the error I worked around it and used an SMTP server that didn't require SSL. Since those servers are becoming more and more difficult to find lately, I decided to figure out why this error was being generated by my copiers. The solution was simpler that I originally thought it would be. It was in an area of the web interface that we technicians don't normally fumble around in, the security settings.

The Solution

If you're getting the "(SMTP-SSL)Port is disabled. Consult your system admin." error, here is the quick fix. Before we get started you'll need to know the Sharp copier's IP address. I'll assume you already know how to get into the web GUI if you're setting up scan to email, but if you don't know the IP address of the copier you can print a NIC page with this information on it.
Here is a YouTube video(with my monotone voice-over) on how to run through the procedure described below:

1. From the Sharp's IP accessed web interface first login as an administrator by clicking Login at the top right corner. The default administrator password is "admin" by default.

http://i.fixya.net25408640-smf2r4tpyjjq4h3ju4xuhwdx-5-2_0.png

2. Next, click Security Settings at the bottom of the left menu, then click Port Control underneath Security Settings.

http://i.fixya.net25408640-smf2r4tpyjjq4h3ju4xuhwdx-5-5.png

3. Scroll down on the Port Control page to find the Client Port area, then look for the SMTP-SSL option, enable it, then click submit at the bottom of the page.

At this point you should be able to scan to email with an SMTP server that requires SSL. I'm not sure why this port setting is disabled from time to time, but at least it's a quick fix.

To verify your connection to the SMTP server click Network Settings on the left menu.
25408640-smf2r4tpyjjq4h3ju4xuhwdx-5-0_1.png

Scroll down to the SMTP section, and click Execute on the connection test. A popup will ask if you want to run the test with the displayed DNS servers, say OK, then you should have your successful reply.

In conclusion, this is a rare issue, but has a simple solution. If you'd like to lease a copier in Houston just request a quote or contact me. I'll get you fixed up quickly and I'll match or beat any price you've been given on a Sharp copier.

Windows mail gave me this error message: Account: 'yahoo mail', Server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR popgate unknown command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server...

If you have Yahoo! Mail Plus (a paid upgrade), you can access those messages directly from a standard email program (such as Outlook, Windows Live Mail, etc.). You need to configure the account settings in your email program for the Yahoo service.

The settings for incoming mail are:
Incoming (POP) server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 995
Security: SSL

For more on Yahoo server settings, see this Yahoo help page:

For details on configuring the WLM email program, see this Microsoft help page:

While accessing mail i am getting message (error code:ssl_error_rx_record_too_long_

Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long Your SSL website may fail to load and display the error

Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long

This usually means the implementation of SSL on your server is not correct. The error is usually caused by a server side problem which the server administrator will need to investigate.

Below are some things we recommend trying.

- Ensure that port 443 is open and enabled on your server. This is the standard port for https communications.

- If SSL is using a non-standard port then FireFox 3 can sometimes give this error. Ensure SSL is running on port 443.

- If using Apache2 check that you are using port 443 for SSL. This can be done by setting the ports.conf file as follows

— clip —
Listen 80
Listen 443 https
— clip —

- Make sure you do not have more than one SSL certificate sharing the same IP. Please ensure that all SSL certificates utilise their own dedicated IP.

- If using Apache2 check your vhost config. Some users have reported changing <VirtualHost> to _default_ resolved the error.
