Question about Compaq Presario Notebook
Hello,I accidentally cracked the plastic(glass?)of the lcd screen.
Everything else works fine, the icons everything appears fine, but now the touch screen is not functioning with the pen so I can move the cursor with the touch ball.
I called Sony and 5 calls,4hours,and 5 different people later I hope I did the right thing.
In the beggining they told me that no matter what I have to send them my sony with a flat rate of 699.00 plus taxes plus shipping no matter what...
In my last call the guy told me that the part I am looking for is called'housing protection"and because my English is not perfect it took me some time to be sure that the plastic or glass square piece of the lcd its called like that.
Anyway,I ordered the part for 11.75 plus shipping and now my first question is 'Did I order the right part?and second when I asked them to help me how to replace it myself they said they cant help me.
Do you by any chance know if the cover of this lcd screen(that slides up and down),is possible to remove it from the front(and if yes how)or from the back?
Thank you very much for your time.
Well the first thing you did wrong was being careless with your computer, and now your carelesness has caused you to break it. the second thing you did wrong was post your baby whining and wimpering about it online in here. and you think sony should be helpful to your careless needs for free? grow up dude, take better care of your things, take responsibility, and quit whining like a little sissy, and go pay for your faulty mistake to be fixed. hope this helps... peace out!

Do not open the lcd panel personally. you can do 2 things,
1. personally go to the nearest service center & try to solve this problem by talking to them directlly.
2.Sought over phone and behave like a angry human.

Hey, you can take your monitor apart, might avoid your warranty but since your buying new parts for it I supose you have no warranty. It can be difficult and I would recommend takeing the laptop to a professional if you dont feel that you can do it.
I don't know if the part is the correct one. I hope it is. If I understood correctly the touch screen's plastic thing cracked witch is used to by the pc to detect where you pointed with the pen.
I have some experience in replaceing such a plastic on a pdas. Well I wish you good luck. If the part is wrong I recommend you send it back for a refund, contact them first. Get your money back and take the laptop to a professional pc repair shop. They will most likely have it runing like new in few weeks if not in days. I dont know how much that will cost.
