Thank you for submitting your question concerning your Frigidaire front load washer, ATF6000ES. Typically if your washer is making a banging noise it could mean one or two problems, but primarily the tub is off balance or your washer is not level. In this regard, since the tub is spinning it would be advisable to reach out to a local service provider to properly diagnose your washer. You can often locate a qualified tech through the manufacturer website.
if it is right after the drain cycle; it then goes into a spin. It then starts to fill with water for the rinse while the tub is still turning. The water entering the tub while the tub is spinning, cleans the tub of soap and the water going through the holes in the tub are causing the noise. It is normal if only in the rinse cycle.
I removed the bottom panel under the door and drained the the tub. There is a white filter housing that unscrews, but you need to have towels handy to catch the water that comes out. The machine appeared to work after that but it would'nt drain and it turns out that the humming noise was coming from the drain pump connected to the filter. I ordered a new drain pump assembly, which should be easy to replace since it is located at the front of the washing machine.
Thanks for using FixYa. If your washer is a front load washer then check these things if it is making noise--
Bellows
The
bellows is a rubber sleeve that seals the suspended outer tub to the stationary
cabinet front at the tub opening. Its purpose is to provide a water tight
opening into the tub that can be sealed by the cabinet door, yet allow
flexibility for the oscillation of the tub during the wash and spin cycles. Outer
Tub Assembly
The
outer tub assembly is supported by two suspension springs and stabilized by two
air shock assemblies. A cement counter weight is mounted to the front of the
outer tub by screws. A counterweight is molded into the rear half of the outer
tub. These counterweights prevent excessive oscillation of the entire suspended
assembly during an unbalanced spin cycle. Spin
Basket Assembly
The
spin basket is constructed of stainless steel. The circumference of the basket
is perforated to allow water to flow through it as it revolves. A heavy steel
shaft is pressed into the spin basket support which is then bolted to the
basket. The spin basket assembly is entirely supported by two ball bearings
pressed into the rear of the outer tub. A large drive pulley is mounted to the
free end of the shaft that extends through the rear of the outer tub. There are
three plastic vanes mounted to the spin basket to aid in the washing action
during the wash cycle. The rotation of the spin basket provides both the
washing action during the wash cycle, and water extraction during the spin
cycle.
High pitch "jet engine" noise--A certain
amount of motor whine is normal during the spin cycle.
Rattling and clanking noise--
• Foreign objects such as coins or safety pins may be in
drum or pump. Stop washer and check drum. If noise continues after washer is
restarted, objects may be in pump.
• Belt buckles and metal fasteners are hitting wash drum. To
prevent unnecessary noise and damage to drum, fasten fasteners and turn items
inside out.
Squealing sound or hot rubber odor-- Washer is
overloaded. Do not overload washer. Stop washer and reduce load.
Thumping sound— Heavy wash loads may produce a
thumping sound. This is usually normal. If sound continues, washer is probably
out of balance. Stop washer and redistribute wash load.
Vibrating noise--
• Washer is not resting firmly on floor. Move washer so it
rests firmly on floor. Adjust leveling legs. NOTE: Some shaking of the washer
is normal without moving across the floor. See INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for
details.
• Shipping bolts and foam blocks have not been removed
during installation. See INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for removing shipping bolts
and foam blocks.
• Wash load unevenly distributed in drum. Stop washer and
rearrange wash load.

what's the brand name and model number, all washers are different, most likely it's the motor humming or the pump is humming, could have something stuck in pump,if the water doesn't drain the washer won't spin,if you have a shop vac pull the drain hose out of stand pipe or sink, stick the shop vac hose onto the drain hose, get it down as low as you can and suck out the water and then see if it spins,if there's alot of water in the tub suck it out of the tub first then go to the drain hose,if it spins when water is out you know it's the pump but if you say water is still in tub i would have to say it is the pump,
When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it. Good luck!
You'll very likely have something caught in your drain pump. First set the washer to drain and spin. If you hear a hum or grinding noise and the water in the tub isn't draining or it's draining slowly you have something in the pump. If you take the rear panel off you'll reveal the drain pump at the right front corner or maybe middle on this model. if you empty all the water from your machine you can take off the spring clamp (this can be tricky) attaching the thick rubber hose from your tub to your drain pump. (you may want to have some old towels ready) With this off you can feel around for what's blocking the drain pump's impeller. You may want to take the screws out that secure the drain pump to the base and the other spring clamp that attaches the drain hose to the drain pump. Good luck!
