You need to reinstall it because that is what the drum glides on and in time you will hear metal on metal grinding

Leather strip came off dryer. Now seeing shiny fibers on clothes. I'm wondering what the fibers are and if they are dangerous. Dryer is a kenmore from the 80s or90s

Hello,

The fibers are felt and theirself are not dangerous...however they were secured to that leather strap that came off and that leather strap and the felt fibers comprise the rear drum seal and now their is a gap in the drum because that felt seal has come off...with that felt seal off their is a great possibility of clothing falling through the gap and damaging the components of the dryer (and ruining your clothing)...it is highly reccomended that the felt seal is replaced on the dryer drum.

I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis dryer and it is making a grinding noise when the drum is turning. I think a long fabric-like strip of (gasket?) was found inside the drum that may have worked it's way off...

Hello,

Yes indeed their is a part exactly like that..it's a felt seal that goes between the drum and front&rear plates that support the drum. WHen ordering the part ask for a felt seal

My beko condenser tumble dryer is drying fine but is making a loud scraping noise. When I took out the clothes there was a strip of white felt in the washing

Looks daunting to start with but just done mine,
remove top and all rear covers and rear panel after removing drum split washer, pump hoses, belt and elec connection, remove the drum and you will see where the felt seal goes. i had some felt i cut to 12mm wide and siliconed it in place, left to dry for 6 hrs, now runs fine.

There is a felt strip that came out of inside the dryer. it popped out from under the rim of the drum part. can i get a replacement part? it the dryer still okay to use?

Yes it is replaceable . Screws up into top from door opening 2 or 4. 2 screws into front from inside case into front . Lift up and out . Felt fits in groove around bottom of plastic frame and drum just rubs against it .

I have a rubbing sound coming from the gas dryer drum

The rubbing sound is probably due to worn or missing glides around the dryer opening that the drum rides on. These are usually mounted on a felt strip that is glued to the front panel of the dryer. Remove the front panel and you will see this strip. It is easy to replace and comes in a kit with the glue. Make sure you clean the area after removing the old strip so the glue will adhere properly. If this strip and glides are in good shape, I would look at the bearing or rollers at the back of the drum and check clearance around the drum for rubbing. Hope this will fix ya.

Felt strip around front loading Kenmore dryer(M10201265) drum came out. Trying to replace it. Whats the best method to do so? The part listed for our model number seems too wide, but it could be we aren't...

If you are talking about the front seal it should be only able to fit one way, the ends are tapered. Possibly the wrong one was packaged in the bag, (been there done that) compare it to the old one and the instructions should explain if there was a modification or design change.

Brown marks on the clothes

Yes, the felts are what seals the unit and allows the drum to turn without much heat loss. The felt can become damaged and the clothes will get caught between the drum and the housing leaving these marks.

Loose drum support felt

you could try using "Permatex" hi-tack adhesive.  you need to remove the door where the bearings are first.
