I had the same on mine and here is the explanation because fixing it is not easy to impossible.

I had it fixed on mine just to see it getting worse after that.

Reason: The Zoom Slider puts a resistor to some printed curcuit board just beneath it and if that gets oxidised due to age it stops working. Only the remote workes then.

Workaround (recommended): Use the remote.

Fixing it is nearlky impossible as the printed circuit board is on the other side of the camera from where you start opening it and you have to comletely dissasemble it. I did and tried fixing it by cleaning the circuit boad, but it somehow changed the restance value and then it was stuck in full zoom all the time. Then had to re-open again and sever the connection completely, thus having the camera stuck in full view at least. but because of this strange resistor concept of the design, having the connection severed does not disable the zoom but rather simulates constant zooming out. hence my remote is now not longer working.

Hence: keep it simple and use the remote and be happy.

My samsung pl20 camera was dropped and it say the zoom did not operate normally

Pull gently back and forth on the lens while in outward position. Do this several times until you hear a click. This will put the lens back in place and should go in and out afterwards with no problems. The lens was knocked out of alignment when dropped and do the above will put it back into alignment.

Can zoom in or out when in full page mode anymore, just started yesterday aug 10/11

there is a pretty obvious bug when using 'Marquee Zoom' (Alt+5) in the full screen mode (F11). When you press 'Ctrl' to toggle 'Zoom In' and 'Zoom Out' (changing the little magnifying glass cursor from + to - and back again), it sticks with 'Zoom Out' and refuses to toggle back to 'Zoom In'. And then the only way to recover 'Zoom In' is to exit full screen mode, whereupon 'Ctrl' regains its toggling power and everything is back to normal

I took that bettery out of my dell laptop and when i turned it back on everything was zoomed in, now i dont know how to fix it.

you did not provide what operating system you use, i assume this is windows? i am providing solution for windows xp

1. reboot the computer
2. if everything is still "zoom in"click righ mouse button anywhere on your desktop
3. select properties
4. tab on display
5. select better resolution than you have now

for future references, you need to give specific model (dell over the years produced over 220 models and if you count variants will be close to 500 different laptops! i know, i was one of they engineers once), operating system and then ask for help, telepathy do not work very well... hope this solved your problem :-)

Zoom does not work

hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage.
thank u rate me!!!
