Question about Epson Stylus S20 InkJet Photo Printer C11CA22303

Open Question

Orange light on constantly; will not print

My Epson stylus S20 is desperately needed at the moment, so has chosen now to stop working. Firstly an error warning concerning black cartridge (although not low ink; it was midnight when this happened so I dont remmebr detail). Replaced cartridge anyway. Now Orange light displayed on printer constantly, and it wil not print.

Anything I may have done wrong that I can rectify?

thanks

Guy

SOURCE: Epson stylus c64. Replaced low ink printer

1) Unplug the power cord, wait 30 seconds, then plug back in.

2)Did you follow the directions exactly when replacing the cartridge? Did you peel off the protective film?

SOURCE: Do I need to have 4 ink cartridges in at all times

Yes the machine will require you to install all the cartridges to function. The cartridges also have kill chips that will tell the machine if they are empty or not. Because of this you will be required to always have some of each ink in the machine at all times.

That being said, because of the way Epson printers are designed the print head is integrated into the printer and generally not a replaceable part. This means "Use it or lose it." applies. If you would like to be able to print quality color in the future you should be sure you print a little of each color at least once a week to keep the print nozzles clear and functioning.

SOURCE: When I turn on my printer I get a constant orange

Depending on the model, you may need to replace the printhead(s) as well. If there is no error message on screen, remove all cartridges and printheads then re-seat them into the printer again. The printer should run through a cycle like you installed new cartridges, and then should display a message with instructions (or not, if maybe it didn't realize you have replaced the cartridges from the last time).

The S20 has the orange light on and I cant turn it off.

Unfortunately with Epson printers it is all or nothing with them. The same thing happened to me with my stylus - I needed to replace all the cartridges, as they have a timer on them and won't let you print even if one is low or empty - there also isn't just a print in black options. These reasons are why I stopped buying Epson printers.

Unfortunately, all cartridges must be used in unison. In order to print one color you can usually go into your settings and set it to black and white only, but some models will not even do this. To be frank, these Epson models have a horrific reputation on the Internet for not recognizing cartridges, only printing 10's of pages before the ink runs out, and just general overall problems. I am sorry, but I would professionally suggest buying the cheapest Kodak/HP/Brother at Wal-Mart over even trying to troubleshoot this model at all.

Epson S20 does not recognise cartridges

It should be returned to the seller for exchange under warranty.

I presume you have removed the tags on the cartridge and ensured they have chips on the cartridge case? If all that has been done then i would be making a warranty claim

I think the problem is in your windows, try to reinstall your windows. I suggest, don't reset the original chip, cause it's damage the chip.
