Question about Samsung HLR5667W 56" Rear Projection HDTV

Open Question

DLP Samsung HL-R5667W

Had a tech here today to try and solve the Samsung DLP problem, the lamp is good and he doesnt feel the light engine is the problem. Samsung cust. sevice says there is no firmware upgrade for this set like some others. It powers up with pic and sound then right when it goes to the tv guide screen the picture goes black , but still has sound. At this point , the remote control will not operate any functions on the set even though its recieving a signal due to the led flashing indicates on the set.

Is anybody out there ?????????????????????

So I solved it online , yahoooooooo !

I just responded to your other post check the connection between the lamp and ballast at both ends. Also did you get the same exact lamp as your old lamp, as Samsung has two different arc gaps and they wont work if you get the other type even though they look the same physically.

SOURCE: Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Samsung DLP turns on and off - cycle repeats

make sure put the lamp door back before trying to turn it on because they have switches on them that allow the tv to turn on. If that is ok you probably have a bad ballast.
Call a local tv repair shop to further diagnose the problem.

Samsung DLP HL-R5667W lamp won't fire. Changed lamp & ballast and still won't work. Fans are working fine, color wheel good. Lamp door switch good. When I power on, I hear ballast buzz like it's trying...

Was the replacement lamp the same part number as the original as there are different arc gaps for different lamps and the wrong arc gap will cause the lamp not to light. Since the ballast is powering up the lamp should light if the baalast is matched to the correct arc gap of the lamp being used.

Samsung HL-r5667w TV shuts down on its own.

You may have a colorwheel going bad. The bearings start going out and this is an indication of the failure. The colorwheel is located in the light engin e therefore you may want to get a qualified tech to look at it

Samsung DLP TV HL-R5667W shuts off intermittently

Afraid there is no simple answer to this. This set has multiple things that could shut it down, one may be the balest needs a upgrade , this could be why it seems to be eating lamps. Another is what sounds like a fan is a color wheel , these have known problems of failing, and when this happens sometimes they shut down the set. And finaly does the set have good ventalation, overheating can cause huge problems with this set
