Hi have a sanyo x1200 camera havent used it for a few months but fully charged the battery before went to swutch it on but will not switch on???

Naturally, for some battery brands and models, recharging happens quiet often since some batteries have shorter capacity to sore current. Some are also designed for a longer time of use. But, here are tips on hoe to prolong the life of your battery:
  • Do not use Super Heavy Duty and other low capacity batteries in high drain devices such as digital cameras.
  • Store batteries in a dry, cool place and avoid heat situations.
  • Fully discharge batteries before charging. This is particularly true for Nickel Cadmium batteries which have a memory effect.
  • Store Lithium batteries (such as the Lithium P7) between 20¡ãC and 25¡ãC (68¡ãF and 77¡ãF) with 30% to 50% charge.
  • Remove the battery if the device is not used for several days or if the device will be plugged into AC continuously.
  • Rechargeable batteries should be fully discharged and charged at least once every 3 months.
Thanks. I hope it helps...

Camera turns on, shows picture and turns off. Nothing works or moves.

What is the model of your Canon digital camera? Is it a Powershot of some kind?

Display says to change batteries..have done and still says to change batteries

Strange as this solution might sound,m it works; clean the battery contacts in the camera, as well as the battery itself with alcohol. Even a small bit of oxidation, at the current level the camera requires, drops quite a few mvolts, enough for the camera to think your battery is running low.

Flashes low battery with only a few shots. Battery is new. Also what brand of rechargable batteries do you suggest?

cameras eat batteries fast. the best cameras have rechargable battery packs.

i'd use energizer or duracell. try to stay away from alkiline rechargables as they wear out fast. try Nickle Medal Hydrate Batteries (NiMH).

E10 and s45 same problem

the batteries needed for the cameras are quite high powered

though the batteries show that they are fuly charged most times they have lost their actual capacity of power storage in them so not being able to supply enough to start the camera best way to test this is to start the camera on preview mode if this works then you will need to buy a new set of rechargable batteries, i would suggest to take batteries in the range of 2000MAh to 2500MAh and

the normal batteries will not be able to sustain long even for normal lens open and retract functions, instead of normal batteries try LR6 varieties (eg: Duracell, Energizer, etc)

I have the same model, have been using rechargeable batteries as well as duracell. works good

dun buy those cheap batteries, $1.00 types, they are not enough to sustain the power requirement

After taking about 5-10 pictures the shutter speed slows down, then it will not work.

A Generic Answer that is appropriate for most cameras, but may not be perfect for yours, add a comment with make and model details for a better reply.

The most common cause is rechargeable batteries at the end of their working life,
The battery cant supply sufficient current. take a few pictures and there is not enough current to continue, even though the battery voltage indicator suggests a full or part full battery
then with a delay, chemical action within the battery regenerates enough to power some more pics.
I get good results from generic (PureEnergy) rechargeable alkalines from WalMart, up to 900shots in daylight /charge, 4aa 4aaa & charger $32 100 charges guaranteed

Your region may have a different brand.
My apologies if this seems like a commercial

"change the batteries"--but they're new batteries!

I had the same issue which cleared itself up when I used digital specific batteries (theoretically higher power) as well as replaced the cr1220 battery (in a small gray plastic slot next to the 4 AA batteries).
