Stacking multiple photos

I use Picture It 2002 on my XP alot. It works just fine, But now I am making a collage and stacking alot of photos. There was no problem with the first 15 or so.,,. but now when I try to get a photo from My Picture file it is soo slow. I can pull up My Picture file ok.. but when I click on one that I want to use.. it opens in the Picture It program sooooo sloooow. It takes almost 3 minutes to open. And everything i want to do to it is slow. I dont understand why the program works great with a little amount of photos but when i use alot of photos for a project it slows down. HELP.. I am trying to make this collage of my granddaughter.. and I need it for Christmas.

Thanks Kawika. I will try that. How can I purchase more memory? I am on a laptop, does that make a difference?

I called Microsoft and found out that the Pic It program is too old and is not compatible with Vista.. soo yes I am going to delete it from his PC. Thanks again. :)

It could be that your RAM is completely being used in doing this project.
Try closing all other open programs, including anti-spyware and anti-virus, AFTER disconnecting from the internet.
You perhaps could also purchase more RAM memory.

The Picture It will not work unless it was designed (programed) to work with VISTA. So just un-install it from the Vista machine.

Just take your computer to any computer repair or "Office" store with computer repair services, they will sell you the right memory and install it properly.

I have found that the larger the memory chip is, the cheaper it is.

Two 512s cost more than One 1024 (1 Gig)

You should find that other programs run faster.

There is a small FREE utility you can try first, MemInfo 1.81

It is used to defrag your ram.

How do i create a photo collage to upload to my blog

Easiest way would be to paste a bunch of photos onto a page in a paint program, size it and save as one picture. But there are several websites like Picmonkey and Fotor that will help you make collages.

How can I multiple pics on one page ? thanks

Starting with Windows XP, Microsoft made it possible for you to 'right-click' on a photo, or highlight several, then right-click them, and begin its 'Photo Printing Wizard' (see instructions by clicking here). This 'wizard' will allow you any kind of arrangement, including montages, wallet photos, etc. Have Fun!

I created a collage in Shape Collage and saved it as a psd and opened it in Gimp. I can actually choose a photo and move it around but I cannot choose a photo when I just want to rotate it. What am I...

Hi phib577,

You mentioned that you created a collage in Shape Collage and opened it in Gimp, yes you can choose a picture but cannot rotate anymore since the Shape Collage has already formatted the picture as part of the Collage and if Rotated then most likely it will not rotate.

If you want that picture rotated then you will need to use Shape Collage again to be able to edit and rotate the picture that you need to rotate.

I hope that this helps.

Thank you for choosing Fixya,

How to merge several photos in one

Do you mean make a panorama photo ? Many cameras have a panorama function that does this automatically - it is a special setting. To do it manually use any photo-editing software like Photoshop or free GIMP or free online such as SUMOPAINT. Put each photo on a separate layer and move them around and erase overlapping portions. When all of them appear nicely aligned flatten the layers. If his makes no sense to you do not worry there is automatic photo stitching software, also free - this page tells about it:

However if you simply want to make a photo collage you can also do it manually, or use picasa software's create/ Picture Collage function. This arranges selected photos randomly as if on a table-top in one photo.

Photo collage

Assume you are using Word 97-03.

Drop in a picture. You'll notice (as I'm sure you already have), that it's extremely hard to format. Microsoft Word is mostly for ... words. However, it is very open and you can actually write HTML in it, and put in pictures too. But it really is mostly used for its text engine.

However, to do what you want, right click the picture and click Show Picture Toolbar (if it's not already there). Click on the button that looks like gray lines in front of a silhouette of a dog. Set the picture to In Front or Behind Text ... This allows you to move the picture around freely, even rotate it with the green circle. Overlap works too.

However ...The real program to use would be Microsoft Publisher. It is used for making things like pamphlettes, small books, collages, etc.

I also assume that you're making a collage to print out. If you want to make a digital presentation of it, viewable only on a computer, I suggest using Microsoft PowerPoint. It is great for making presentations - you can have the pictures fly in, move around, and then fly out one at a time or do something different. It's a lot of fun.
