Question about Sub-Zero 690 Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

Light on refirgerator side doesn't come on unless I tap switch.

Sometime even manually pushing in and releasing the light mechanism doesn't work. Other times light comes on after a few seconds when fridge is opened. Sub zero 690 is 10 years old. Is there an easy solution?

The replacement light switch part number is Sub Zero Part # 3060140- this is a common problem. I just changed mine - very easy to do.

I had to take my switch apart and clean and lube it and it worked fine. Or just replace the switch. It may have gotten some sticky ketchup in it like mine did.

My switch also sticks, for the short term, I removed it from the unit and sprayed WD-40, then compressed air to remove the excess. The switch works fine now. Now I'm going to order a new switch from a local store, or online.

Thanks mikemt an I see the button there but when I went to get the switch it wasnt wat im lookin at it was white an didn have that button im lookin at on the pedal is it under the dash cause does not look...

Hi, you may be looking at the cruise control release switch. The stop light switch is behind the pedal as shown below. You're right--this is not an easy fix. After replacing, you need to make up a special tool to adjust it.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the three fasteners from the left side insulator panel.
  3. Slide the steering shaft protective cover towards the cowl.
  4. Remove the vacuum hose at the cruise control cut OFF switch, if so equipped.
  5. Remove the stoplamp switch-to-steering column bracket retaining pin.
  6. Unplug the electrical connector.
  7. Push the switch arm to the left and towards the cowl to disconnect switch-to-pedal arm. Release the snap clip and remove the switch.

To install:
  1. Install the switch and push up until it is seated into the top snap clip.
  2. Attach the electrical connectors.
  3. Connect the switch to the pedal.
  4. Install the switch-to-steering column retaining pin.
  5. Connect the vacuum hose if equipped with cruise control.
  6. Install the steering shaft protective sleeve.
  7. Adjust the stoplamp switch.
  8. Install the left sound insulator, connect the negative battery cable and check switch operation.

Fig. Fig. 4: Adjusting the brake light switch-1992 vehicle shown

  1. Depress the brake pedal (push down), as far as possible and hold.
  2. Using a stiff wire with a hooked end, gently pull the switch set lever forward (toward the front of the vehicle), and listen for an audible click that indicates release of the automatic adjuster.

If no click is heard, release the brake pedal and repeat the above procedure.
  1. After release of the automatic adjuster, slowly pull the brake pedal all the way rearward. Listen for the switch to ratchet into the set position (setting the brake light switch). At least three clicks of the ratchet should be heard.
  2. Inspect the operation of the brake lights, as follows:
    1. The brake lights should light at maximum brake pedal travel of 1 1 / 4 in. (32mm) and throughout the remainder of the pedal travel.
    2. If the brake lights do not light, repeat the switch adjuster procedure one more time.

Whats the problem when the truck wont start and i tap the clutch slave cylinder and it does start? but then that wont work anymore. what do i do? smugman697@yahoo.com

I'd take a look up near where clutch pedal pivots for a switch similar to brake light switch, that has to be depressed or released by pedal when pushed. Probably a safety feature to insure vehicle won't start unless clutch in, just in case it's in gear. May be adjustable, but if not, or adjustment doesn't help, replace it.

Explain in plain english how this works. Set time on face rotating dial clockwise.. push in pins to on and off positions. It seems to screwy unless timer runs counterclockwise, Set time at 5:30 AM amd go...

For starters, disregard which way the timer runs. Push in the pins for when you want it to power your lights. Turn the dial to set the time of day that it is now. That should be it.

2004 Lincoln LS - Dome lights stay on

The dome light usually is controlled by the light switch. When you turn the switch all the way to one side it will turn on the light. It is not on the autolamp system.

There is also a manual control on some of the overhead lights for map reading. These are push switches on the sides of the lights or even the clear cover.

One of your doorjam switches is shorted if you can not turn the light off any other way.

Finally, take a heavy rag and use it to remove the bulb from the fixture after you remove the cover. The cover usually squeezes smaller and the tabs will release from the fixture.

My 1992 corvette Interior light stays on

I am not sure about the 1992 since they have newer dashboard than my 86.

Anyway, I got that same intermittent issue on mine, sometime the battery was drawn in the morning sometime not, very frustrating, until i noticed that the interior light sometime was not going out as it should after 30 seconds when leaving the car in the evening.

I eventually found the timer module after removing the upper dash pad, on the passenger side. The module was just partially unplugged. Put it back in and never got problem anymore (was 6 years ago).

Suburban wont go into gear

check to see if your brake lights are working.there is a safety system that wont allow you to shift from park unless you push the brake pedal........most of these systems utilize the brake light switch for this........if your brake lights dont work it is most likely a blown fuse.
hope this helps....

Hi questpilot,
what you're saying it can be 3 possible case
1.its the backlight that have problem and I give it 90% to your problem. The behavior of spoil back light sometime you can use and sometime you can't if you tab the switch that mean you power off the light and after that you power on it again so this will work for 1-2 second
2.Bad inverter or bad chip on that inverter this always happen but like this case sometime after switch, you can use for nearly a week or two. so I give it only 40% for your case.
3.Its the lid actuator but you already push it up and down already and still the same.and also when you push it down and up the light turn on...so I think this is working fine.
