I have 4 monitors on a ATI MVFire 2400 video card. On 2 monitors I am getting a pink box hehind the arrow mouse pointer and when it becomes a hand it has a black line above the index finger on the hand. Also getting some flickering on the two monitors. Any suggestions for resolution?

The HD 2400 is a pretty old card and I doubt it will give brilliant graphics.or will it run DX11
However.
1)Have you disabled the 'on-board' graphics in your BIOS settings ? Your computer will not recognise it if the old on board chip is enabled.
2) Have you tried connecting the 2400 using the 15 pin video connector ?
3) You say it isnt 'recognising' the hd2400 and yet you are saying the monitor is working at 640 !!!! Which is it. Does the monitor work on the old onboard output or the HD2400 ?
4) The version of catalyst depends on your operating system and whether 32 or 64 bit.
Use the right one via here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
and uninstall the old one first..
5) If the monitor does not work at all on the HD2400 try the card in a different PCI slot.
6) ALWAYS check after you start the PC that in 'Device Manager' that the display adapter (hd2400) is recognised.
7) run ' DXDIAG ' to see how good the monitor is. (type in dxdiag the start orb search box)

If you have both monitors on the same Graphic card if you have windows 8 point your mouse arrow up in the right side of the first monitor and go to Devices / Project and click Extand

Click the START MENU, click the CONTROL PANEL. Locate the APPEARANCES AND THEMES link. Click the DISPLAY tab or MONITOR Tab. In this option, a DROP BOX MENU will be available. Click the ATI RADEON HD 2400 PRO device. It may say something similar to MULTIPLE MONITORS. After doing so, you may configure the MONITORS as to giving them a position such as MONITOR #1 AND #2. You may do this by DOUBLE CLICKING the monitor example pictures above the drop box menu to verify which monitor will be your main DISPLAY.

Yeah maybe but it gonna be SLOW so I dont recommend it. you should have a better computer.

You can put any graphics card in any machine you just need to install the proper driver
Use to be a jumper on the mother that disabled the onboard video but today I think the soft hardware saves use the trouble.
You can run 2 monitors at one time using the 2 video graphics... card and the one on board just set you display properties

Go to your bios and check if your bios allow that. Usually if you connect a card on the motherboard slot automatically the on board card becomes unavailable.
If your bios doesn't allow to make changes you can add another pci video card or connect some vga split signal to get the image on 3, 4, or more monitors with a single device.

If you didnt do so, change the mouse and try it. If it still dont work, It sounds like she shorted the usb (mouse) port and took out the MB also.
By the time and expense of getting a new MB. you can find a new comparable computer for about $400.00 dollars.

You do about anything on your TV that you can on a monitor however on a regular (not HD) TV resolutions over 640x480 (or 720x480) will scale down and not look as good.

If you can see the desktop and mouse but no icons or start menu then look for a setting 'overscan compensation' in the video control panel. Enable this and adjust until you can see more of your desktop.

Are you able to test this monitor on another computer as it sounds like a graphics card fault and not the monitor.
