Question about Dryers

1 Answer

No heat Hi I replaced coils on my whirlpool dryer last year and everything was fine. Now the dryer heater core will not even glow. Do you believe it would be the thermal fuse or the glow unit itself?

I found that the black carbide igniter has a very, very small crack in it, I suspect that is the problem?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

I replaced the fuse and the coils for my Whirlpool dryer because it would heat up and then the flame would go out after it ran for 5 - 10 minutes. Now what could it be? Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR8648LW0

Whirlpool dryer(LGQ9557HQ0), ignitor ignites but flame does not light

mounted on top of the gas vavlve is black electrical coils when energized it opens the gas valve,if one of the coils are defective it wont open and let the gas thru, its hard to test the coils so most repairmen just replace them all

Whirlpool dryer with no heat

Is the igniter glowing yellow? Look inside the pilot access hole and see if it lights up. If it lights up then goes off, it may be the thermal fuse. Once this blows, it has to be replaced. There are pictures all over the internet on the location of this part.
Good luck.
