Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
This is a common fault with the 360, it says that its a "general hardware failure" which could mean anything
really. In truth its the lead free solder that cracks with so much heat and as a result the Xbox 360 fails
causing the 3rrod (3 red rings of death) or e74 or even no sound but graphics or sound and no graphics just like you are reporting.
if the power is not getting from the power block to the motherboard or there is a problem with the solder like i mentioned above the power brick light will flash to let you know theres a problem.
this could also be overheating though, what i would try is getting another power supply and try it again, if your 360 works then you know its your power supply at fault. if it does the same i would either do the 3rrod repair fix yourself or get it repaired professionally.
