Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.

SOURCE: Icemaker don't work

The wire must be down in order for the icemaker to make ice. If it's up it thinks the hopper is full.

SOURCE: Icemaker not working

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

SOURCE: Water is not going into icemaker, I've replaced

I have a maytag side by side with water in the door, the cold water works but the icemaker doesn't. No water flow into the icemaker, it doesn't appear to be iced up. Can not tell if the selenoid works.

Floor was soaked with water then our icemaker quit working. what could be wrong

I had that happen and it turned out the cat had bitten through the water line that feeds water to the icemaker. Water had gushed out of the line onto the floor and since the icemaker couldn't get any new water to make ice with, it quit working. A clog, the line simply coming disconnected or a different kind of pet going after the line could also cause this problem. Luckily, a new line isn't expensive, and if you rub some habanero sauce on it, the cats and the rabbits both leave it alone.

Ice maker quit water line works intermittingly

icemaker quite? hire a new icemaker. industry joke sorry.
First things first, is it cooling ok? if yes then proceed.
im assuming it stopped making ice altogether, and not a matter of making ice but not dispensing.

If your ice bucket is located in the door itself, you have an electric eye icemaker system, which electronically determines if the bucket is full or not. this electric eye system, located on both side walls of freezer, consist of a transmitter board and a receiver board. you could have a problem with these boards, the icemaker itself, a bad water valve, or depending on the model year, a icemaker fill line that can get clogged with ice, but due to a faulty design, a fill tube heater must be installed.

if your bucket is not in the door, but located directly beneath the icemaker, then disregard the electric eye system info and the fill tube heater info as well.

Water dispenser doesn't work

Hi,
The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.

Icemaker quit working after I cleaned the coils.

After checking the fill tube (line that fills the icemaker) to make sure it's not frozen , pour about 3/4 cup of water into the icemaker . If the icemaker dumps the water but doesn't refill , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker doesn't dump the ice , replace the icemaker . ALSO , make sure the fan which cools the compressor is working . Possible when cleaning the coils , a glob of lint or something , was sucked into the fan and blocked the blade from turning .

Icemaker don't work

Most icemakers have their own brains so to speak all they need is power, low temp, and water to work.So check the water supply to the unit and use a test cord to check the water valve. It could be not cold enough in the freezer ,check temp and shrouds etc.
once you've ruled out outside influences you've got to dismantle the unit and check microswitches and stats all the while on the lookout for something thats broken lol

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.
