Your symptom sounds like a tuner issue.

Most likely it is your tuner. You can replace it yourself or contact a service tech to repair it. If you have a VCR or a DVD with a tuner in it you can always hook it up and use the video input on the back of the set to get a picture.

I would suggest that you contact a service center in your area for a complete diagnosis and repair, as this type of repair can get a little tricky. But if you want to repair the set yourself, just remember to be careful. The capacitors and CRT’s can hold a charge and may shock you.

If you wish to repair the set yourself, I usually order my parts through Andrews Electronics. Their site is http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspx
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about price and availability.

You can also try http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ , I have not tried them yet, but they do carry OEM or better parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

If you need any further assistance please respond to this post.

Sounds like you have a faulty tuner, Its the silver box inside the tv where your aerial plugs in. Sometimes it could be the small female plug which accepts the aerial wire, that has a dodgy connection.

My tv sanyo cm21kf81A, chassis number FC3-G221 has snow noise on all tv channels, but AV1 and AV2 play good sound

First check cable wire or whatever is connected to set for channels--the leads are connected and wiggle them with set on to see if it clears up--could be a connection where cable wire is connected at end--loose connection there etc.

If tuner is bad causing this and you use a box for signal--most have rear audio/video outputs you can connect to a unused video/audio input on rear of set---bypass the tuner in the set and operate set that way changing channels on box instead of set.

let me know if you have questions or have more information.

Connected the coaxial cable to the tv but got no channels. the tv turns on but all I have is snow

Some possible things to check:

1. Are you trying to receive off-the-air broadcasting? If so, you'll need a digital converter box. This set doesn't have a digital tuner, so there won't be any channels for it to receive without the converter.

2. Are you connecting a cable from a cable converter box, satellite receiver or FiOS set-top box? Your TV will need to be set to channel 3 or 4 to see the signal from the device.

3. Make sure the center wire in the plug on the end of the cable isn't bent over, and that it extends far enough (about 1/8 to 1/4-inch) to make a good connection.

4. Do you know for sure that the cable you are connecting is working? Is there actually a signal on the cable? It may be disconnected somewhere else (at a splitter, for instance) or there may not be any signal source.

5. Have you tried another TV to test the cable? If the cable works with another set, the tuner or antenna connector on the snowy set may be bad. If the cable connector is tightened too much when hooking it to the TV, the connector may be damaged and this can cause the snow.

Start by checking with a known good TV. If that one is snowy, you can check the other possibilities. If it works, you'll know the problem is in your set and can decide what to do (repair or replace).

Hope this helps! Thanks for using Fixya.

Tv getting snow & static sounds on all channels.

This TV, I believe, does not have a digital tuner. If you're trying to pick up channels off the air with rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna, you'll need a digital converter box. Without one, there aren't any channels for it to tune in, so all you'll get is snow and static.

If you have a converter, or are using this TV with a cable box, satellite receiver or a similar device, you may have a bad connecting cable. Be sure the cable is firmly connected and that the center pin isn't bent or too short for a good contact. It should extend an eighth of an or so past the end of the connector. Try another cable.

If this set has been working properly and the trouble is new, something is up with the tuner. It may have been damaged during a storm or from power line problems. Poor solder connections may have developed on the circuit board. Other electronic failures may have occurred. If the trouble appears to be inside the TV, it's probably not worth repairing. The replacement cost of a small TV would be not much more (if not even less!) than the labor and parts to fix it.

I hope this has helped. if so, please take a moment to give a thoughtful rating. Thanks for using Fixya!

Stuck on channel 2, "No Signal" and snow

Two things may be at play here. The tv might be only programmed for reception on channel 2 and will need to be re programmed to receive other channels.
Also try some basic troubleshooting on the remotes. Start with the remote that came with the tv. Replace the batteries try the "MENU" button. If you can get into the menu try to "autoprogram" the TV

Did the cable person take a reading on the signal level at the cable outlet on the wall and did the cable person check the TV setting to make sure they are correct. TV could be set on the wrong channel also.

When connected to cable - sometimes snow on channels 14-21.

The RF Connector could be loose either because of bad solder connection or just that part of the tuner could be going bad in the TV. One fix or repair is too use a cable box to eliminate the tuner issue or borrow one for test, and or buy a inexpensive vcr and hook it to cable first then take the output out of vcr and run to tv tuner input. Or better yet, use Yellow ,Red, White cables (Composite video) and run it into respective inputs on TV if it has those inputs. Let me know if this solves your problem or at least gets you close. Thank you. And talk to you soon....Jay
