Question about Water Pik pik Original Shower Massage Sm 651

Open Question

We have an old waterpik shower massager that was made before the current flow restrictors were put into place. The massager head on a hand held has lost about 40% of its power. How can I take apart the sealed head unit without breaking it?

SOURCE: I have a WaterPik shower head that keeps coming

If your unit has a threaded connection for the handle and hose the threads are most likely stripped. You can get thread grip material at most hardware stores and repair it yourself. Otherwise replacement is necessary.

SOURCE: I have a Waterpik "2 in 1 Shower System" with

The bracket should get tight on the existing pipe.....if the bracket will not turn and get tight then the threads are stripped on either the bracket or the end of the pipe...
You may be able to get it to get tight by wrapping some teflon tape on the pipe threads before turning on the bracket...the bracket should then go on and get tight enough to hold the handle shower head...

Little used shower system (rain head, hand held and body nozzles) now has very reduced pressure. was fine 6 months ago when last used.

Pull it apart and see if the flow restrictor is plugged in the water inlet to the shower head.

There is very little water coming out of the head. how do i take the head off

Check out the connection line to the hand held shower. Take it appart and check out the screen and make sure it is clean. Also there is a dime shaped restrictor that reduces water consumption down to 1.6 gals. You can remove that plate and the water flow will increase. The head on the shower itself you can soak it in vinegar to clean head up.

Hope this will be of some help yo you thanks.

I just installed the valve new. I have a shoewe head and a hand held that feed from the unit. It was intended to 1) serve the shower heas alone, 2) serve the hand held unit alone, 3) put water to both...

Assuming that your two heads are fed from the typical curved wall mounted shower pipe, what you need is a diverter valve. Removed both heads till it's down to just that curved pipe. Get a diverter valve from a plumbing supply store. Tell the sales folks that you want to install a diverter valve so that in one position, the hand held receives water and in the other, it cuts the hand held and puts it to the reg. shower head instead. They should give you a "T" sort of fitting. The female threads of this screws into that curved shower pipe. Then you will find two male thread ends. These connect to both your shower heads. Finally there will be a push/pull knob that is operated to control which head gets the water.

Water pressure drops after a few seconds to almost nothing...

In the hand held shower head where the hose attaches to shower head. In the head there could be a flow restrictor. It may be rubber or plastic. In some cases you can remove it, or check if something is blocking it. Also try running the shower without the head on to see if there is some debris in the hose, and to check your water flow.
