How do I finalize the mini-disc in my Canon DC201 camcorder?
My disc will not play on my computer although I have a DVD drawer. I took it to P.C. world and they cannot play it either. Perhaps it is not finalized, how do I do this? It will not play on my portable DVD player either. Ihave still photo's and videos on the disc and need to print the photos out, it is very frustrating. Thank you.

There are two different formats to choose, Video and VR. If you choose Video, can cannot edit the recorded material and you can finalise the disk on the camcorder which will create a menu for you. In VR mode, you can edit but not finalise. You will need to create a menu using software.

Hi, Initially I had the same problem with the finalization process. But then i took off the battery pack and connected to the mains and immediately when i switched on the camcorder again, the ' Finalize ' button was highlighted i.e enabled. I continued with the finalization process and everything was fine. Was able to playback the mini dvd on a very cheap dvd player and also on a computer.
Also be sure to put the camcorder on play mode by sliding down the switch button to mode. You immediately notice that a little green button near play will light up
1. turn it on
2. use cord.
3.move the on buttom to mode. it will show the recordings.
4. select a recording
5.press function butom. it will up bring several choices among "menu"
6. slect menu
7. it will give you all the chioces you need to title, finailize, protect and all needed to view the dvd
You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.
One of two things has gone wrong 1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely 2. You have not finalised the disk.
You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.
Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.
