How do I clean sole plate?

There are many soleplate cleaners at Retail stores. If yours is a standard plain soleplate (No Teflon or coating), you can use a 1200 grade wet and dry paper to clean it. Don't sand if its got the Teflon or coated plate as it will destroy it. Hardware stores carry the wet and dry. 1200 grade is very smooth for fine sanding.

How can I remove something that has stuck to the bottom of my iron

Not a one step process. Depending on what it is, I would start by turning the iron on to HIGH to heat the material up. I would then wipe it with a cotton rag, a bunch of old newspapers, or if necessary, scrape it with a smooth piece of wood like a paint stirrer. You can get paint stirrers free at Lowes or the Home Depot. At some point it might be necessary to rub with a VERY fine steel wool to clean up any tough spots. You should only do this if the iron is not coated with something special like Teflon.

Remove build up from bottom of the iron there are brown stains from fabrics on the iron - want to know how to remove them

Turn the iron on hot. When the stuff feels like it's loosened, take a newspaper and 'iron' it. If you still want to get off more, take a razorblade and shave off as much as you can. If you keep the blade nicely parallel to the iron sole you cannot damage the sole.

Don't use the blade on teflon-coated iron!

Clean instructions for a sunbeam iron model 3051-033.

rinse the inside with white vinegar. Clean the bottom with store bought iron cleaner they are fairly inexpensive and work good. Be careful esp since alot of irons have teflon on the bottom you do not want to scratch this coating if you have it.

I have something stuck on the surfance of my iron. I need to know what to use to remove it. It is staining my clothes when I iron.

If it is not teflon coated sand it of with 400 grit sand paper. sand from front to back and it will create a nice grain and this paper is so fine it will not scratch the surface. Sand it gently until the substance is completely gone. Do not do this if it is teflon coated. Hope this helps you.
