Question about Dryers
I've seen all the PF notes here, but that's not quite my problem. It runs. It sounds like it's working, but there's no heat. It will start off with heat if I reset the breaker, but at some point it trips off the heat. I have cleaned the vent hose. That seemed to work for a few days and then it happened again. I have made sure the lint trap is cleaned out for EVERY load since this started happening. The only thing I haven't done is take off the toe plate to see if there's something loose. I don't want to have to call out a repair man or an electrician if it's not necessary! Not in the budget right now, as I'm sure many of you can relate.
I understand what you mean about budget completely. I would check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter and checking for continuity. Be sure to disconnect the machine from power before attempting any repair. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. A lack of continuity would indicate a faulty component. You did the right thing in cleaning the venting, since most power failure or PF codes or a tripping electrical breaker are caused by poor venting/air circulation. Anyway, I am very sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.
