Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a 22" LCD Acer monitor, not sure which exact model. I had it plugged into a power strip; I turned the strip off, while the monitor was on, but in power save mode, but after turning the strip back on, the monitor won't turn back on. Is it dead? Or is there some way to get it going again? I've tried plugging it into different strips, different outlets, and with different power cords, with no change in the outcome.

Ok, I see no external screws, or anything - what is the recommended way to crack one of these things open?

Silly question. You did hit the power button on your monitor, correct?

Possibly a fuse gone in power supply, If your up to it, try opening the back check it out, or take to an electronic repair shop.

If there are no screws, then it usually clips together. You will find a split in the plastics, usually between front and back. You can use a flat head screwdriver to split the parts, but be very careful as one slip could push the screwdriver through a pc board.

Have you tried checking with another monitor. Meaning that if the second monitor does not come on then the problem is with your computers mother board. But if the monitor other monitor you check it with comes on then of course it is your monitor.

Acer monitor will not start, power button flashes

hi Samuel.
this is all i could find from the internet.
You can try a power reset to see if that helps. To do a power reset, unplug the power cable and press and hold the power key for 10 seconds. Then, release the power key and plug the monitor in and attempt to use it. If you are still unable to get a proper display, We would suggest contacting technical support to inquire about warranty repair options. Many of our monitors carry a 3 year warranty, so there is a chance you may still have warranty left.

I have an acer v229w and would like it to turn off when i power of my compu??

Just Google 'Green outlet strip power saver'
It is an outlet that you plug the PC into the 'Master' outlet, and you plug in your monitor, printer into the 'SLAVE' outlet. The Master outlet will sense the current draw (there is sensitivity adjustment) by the PC then it will turn on the Slave outlets, when PC is turned off, the slave will turn off also.

Will not power up. Is there an internal fuse?

Try to diagnose the problem .
Replace the monitor and see if u get the signal...if u get display with another monitor then motherboard is ok.

are you seeing a picture before it goes off?
make sure the DVI or VGA cable is securely fitted into the monitor and the computer
go to the menu and check that its power saving timer isn't set too low.

Probably not, unplug the monitor for about 5 minutes, this may reset it. You may also want to unplug the power strip to see if that resets.

My new Acer P191W LCD Monitor has a high pitched whine that is extra loud on pages with rich and dark colors.

The PSU "power supply unit is taken on a lot of noise from the outlet. Can you tell us if you have it streight plugged into to a 120V AC outlet or is it plugged into a strip? The Solution for both is NEW strip i recommend APC or plug it into a strip and check the outlet and make sure its properly grounded this should shore up this problem or the unit itself is going out.

Power supply on 17" acer monitor

franh, Typical of a lcd/fpd monitor! There is nothing you or hundreds of others can do to repair it all by yourself. I have repaired 3 monitors and helped tutor 2 others on fixya with their monitors. All had same exact symptom as your monitor. I need you to do a simple test for me. With failed Acer monitor near to your Fully Booted PC with a known good desktop being displayed on back-up monitor, quickly swap out the monitor cables from the back of the PC. Keep touching the CTRL key on you keyboarb every 30-50 seconds to keep the PC from sending out sleep mode command to monitor while doing the reconnect of acer to your PC monitor output port. Make sure the Acer also is connected to a live wall outlet/power strip. Turn on the Acer and note what happens. If screen shows a sharp clear image for a second, then goes black, do the following. Get a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen from a distance of 1 or 2 inches and tell me if you can see the desktop display. get back to me with your observations. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@
