This is a common fault with the 360, it says that its a "general hardware failure" which could mean anything
really. In truth its the lead free solder that cracks with so much heat and as a result the Xbox 360 fails
causing the 3rrod (3 red rings of death) or e74 or even no sound but graphics just like you are reporting.

Firstly get a spare av cable from someone else, try this, if that does the same then try a different scart input on the tv. if all this fails you need to fix your machine as it WILL get worse

You will need to get a 3rrod repair kit or get someone to fix it for you, there are guides available on the
internet. Im in the middle of producing one right now that i will make available free of charge for all fixya
members.

2 red light on

continual long period playing can cause the console flash the 2 red lights? it indicates your console has gotten overheated. The damaged graphics card is another reason for the blinking of 2 red lights on your Xbox 360. This damage happens due to the overheating which is the main culprit behind all the errors and damage to your Xbox 360 console. there are some preventives that should be followed to avoid the 2 red light error occurrence on your 360 Xbox console.
Be careful that none of the ventilation panels are blocked.
Your Xbox 360 is resting on a hard surface, not a soft cloth, bed, sofa surface.
Your Xbox 360 should not be placed near any source of heat.
Your Xbox 360 should be placed in an open location, not confined to a small place.
Getting rid of the 2 red light error is not a very difficult task. You can fix your Xbox 360 console removing the 2 red light error by your own without sending the console to the Microsoft service center and save your dollars and valuable time being spared unnecessarily. For this you need not to have any exceptional knowledge in electronics, and also it is not necessary to have specific, fancy instruments to handle the console for repairing.
The need is to have a professional guide that will give you step by step and detailed information with necessary quality video instructions. While choosing the guide, please be sure that the guide should have minimum cost with money back guarantee. also make sure it is for all errors because some only give solutions to the 3 red lights (red ring of death)
hope this helps

Power brick colour

Alright, lets fix this!
Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow.
Usually when the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange it's on standby so there is no problem with your Xbox 360 console but the power supply can't supply it with power !

First you have to try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for a minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cords at all.
If it's still doing the same it will be definitely a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply.
So, in this case please contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill the Xbox 360 power supply.

Xbox 360 power supply light is red.
There is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply connection so try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.

If it's still red that would be for sure a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply .
So, then contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill your Xbox 360 power supply .

You can also find replacement power cords many places online. See if you can get your hands on another cord and try that to see if its the current power cord.
Hope this helps you out! Please don't forget to rate :)

1 red light usually means a graphics chip problem. A reflow of the graphics processor usually solves this.

Red Light on Plug in connecter thing

Sounds like there is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply, try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord. Give it a minute then reconnect it all back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.

If it's still red that suggests fault with your Xbox 360 power supply so will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support if its under warranty they should be able to sort it out for you. If out of warranty it might cost you for a new power supply!

Was playing Tiger Woods 09 on my 360 when the graphics all of the sudden looked very cheap and generic. I played a few more holes and then shut it off. I tried to turn it back on after about 5 minutes and...

Sounds like the infamous Xbox 360 "3 flashing red LED's" issue, ours did the same shortly before suffering 3 flashing red LED's. If you have one of the original Xbox 360's (without an HDMI port on the back) every single one was built with the wrong solder, so when it gets hot enough the solder melts and your graphics chip gets disconnected.
Is mad as it sounds, run the Xbox 360 for a bit longer until it dies completely because Microsoft have extended the warranty for that specific issue to 3 years! Once you have 3 flashing red LED's you can call the help-line in your country, go through a few diagnostics with them and then (and only then!) the call agent will tell you that as long as your Xbox is less than 3 years old it will be repaired for free.
Microsoft have not widely advertised this and indeed if you try to book service on line it will tell you that you have to pay, even if you click yes to the question "Does your Xbox 360 have 3 flashing red lights on the front?".
However, if you have a newer Xbox 360 message back and we'll go through further diagnostics.
Nick. :)
