Question about Hotpoint Ultima WF860 Front Load Washer

2 Answers

I have just taken a load out from my washer and most of it is covered with a greyish slime, which is also splattered over the glass door at the front. The machine was definately not overloaded. I have wiped around the door seal which also has this muck on it. Is there a filter which should be cleaned out, as there was on my previous machine? There is nothing in the handbook. How do I get rid of this please??

Next question, how do I get the slime out of the clothes from washer?

Cleaning the rubber door gasket will not get rid of the slime issue. The slime comes from buildup on the outside of the washer drum. There are two causes for this. First, if you always close the washer door after use, then the moisture inside the drum cannot dissipate and the slime can form. Also, using the wrong type of detergent (or an excessive amount of the correct detergent) can cause the slime. There are front load washer cleaning products that you can purchase and run to clean the slime from the outside of the drum.

Front door is leaking..I think there is gunk under the grey seal..can that be taken off and cleaned or anything?

If the door glass and the door seal are making proper contact there should not be a problem..The smallest gap, split or tear will let water out. A leaking door seal usually needs to be replaced by a tech....Nomess

The parts can be ordered from the Panasonic authorized parts rep. You have to contact Panasonic for details.

I strongly recommend to have any work on a microwave oven done professionaly. There are radiation leakage issues if the door is not re-assembled properly. After doing any service the microwave oven must be tested for radiation leaks. I doubt that you have the radiation testing equipment to make sure that there are no leaks.

Dirty Door Glass inside the choke - how do I clean it?

Its very hard to take apart the doors They normally have a lot of screws. May have a plastic snap on cover that's covering them up. Some of them are even sealed and can not be taken apart.

Anytime you work on a door you must check it with a microwave leakage meter. The door has metal gaskets and a screen that blocks the microwaves upsetting them will cause it to leak.

This is not a do it yourself repair.

I am currently fixing my microwave, which has done the same thing. Go to http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/smartsearch.aspx?SearchText=%60AMicrowave

just select your brand and under parts, select doors and handles. It will be called Door film, peel & stick. For my microwave, it runs from $16.00 to $21.00. Seems like a very easy fix.
