Charging problems Archos Gmini 220

The player won't charge anymore. When connected to the AC, status is fully charged, When disconnected, status is empty. The battery has been replaced but didn't solve the problem. When the battery is charged the player is fully functional. Any ideas how to go one here?

tks in advance

This is certainly not the reason. Thanks for the suggestion anyway

There is no known way to reset the player, at least not by me. I've deassembled the player and disconnected the HD. Than connected the charger, no difference. Than I connected it to the computer. It gave the info that the MP3 player could not be connected (what a surprice). But it started to charge again :-). I think this sequence did something like you discribed, resetting the player. After assembly it still works. It charges and discharges normally.

    Thanks for the effort!!

Have you tried another charger?
if the charger has a little light that turns green or red when fully charged, there is a huge possibility that the charger is in bad shape.
either way its weird that it is detecting incoming charge, so i would guess a master reset or flashing it would kind of fix the problem if it is in the software..
you could check in your manual if you can do that...

My Archos Gmini XS200 does not fully charge any more. Can I change the battery if so how?

ebay have ads for replacements.

remove the back cover by taking out the 4 screws , fold out the hard drive unit and you will see the battery under it.

unsolder the two wires - positive and negative- ( red and black )
solder on the new battery wires in the correct place and re assemble unit .

Gmini hard disk reading problems

My Gmini XS202s did this twice both time cause the battery went flat while moving files across (I should always charge device while connecting to PC)

First time I reformatted device as FAT32 using fdisk (Windows formatting tool should do same)

Then downloaded latest AOS and copied to root directory. [get AOS from]

second time I ran mkdosfs /media/disk (disk was mount point for gmini). This seemed to fix the device and I lost about 20 files. but better than reformat.

605 wifi won't start

I was having a similar problem where my 160 gb Archos 605 would not hold a charge even after two days of being plugged in through an AC wall adapter. It worked fine for 5 months without a problem, but then all of the sudden it would not hold a charge even if the LED light was blinking green.

One thing that I found that makes it now hold a charge now is by letting is by plugging it in to a computer. I don't know why, but for some reason, now when I charge it through a computer usb as opposed to the wall adapter, it charges and holds a chrage for over 3 hours. So, maybe try to just let the thing charge through a computer.

Archos Gmini220 Power Supply?

The charger which came with my Gmini 220 is 5V DC, 1.6A. It measures about 5.18V. The +5V is applied to the normally unused pin on the USB connector. The charger's plug is built so you and plug the charger into the Gmini and then plug the USB cable into the charger.
