Mamiya RZ67 has a cracked mirror.

Hi. I am considering buying an RZ67. It is in good shape, but has a cracked mirror. What is the cost for shipping and repair/replacement of the mirror (and recalibration?) from Northern California (Eureka, postal zip 95501)? Thanks.

SOURCE: Mamiya RZ67 Camera Older model.

Problem solved- The camera does not operate correctly unless the battery is in good condition, in place, and all the contacts are clean. In the RZ76 as opposed to the old RB models the components "talk" to each other: via electronic circuits. The back "tells" the camera bod if the dark slide ins in or out and whether the film is loaded or at the end of the roll. If the batter voltage is too low or the contacts are no clean and making full contact the body has no way of knowing the condition of the film backs and the interlocking mechanisms fail to work.

What I did was firstly test the battery under load and discovered that the cell was a bit low. It was a fresh battery but it is a good idea to turn the camera off after shooting in case the is a slight current draw when the camera is idle (?) . I replaced the battery and traced the voltages through the body to see if it was getting to some of the contacts such as the onces on the meter prism which has LEDs to be lighted. I also used an ohm meter to check out continuity- everything seemed to be in order. I then cleaned all the contacts including the battery terminals withl alcohol and made sure everything was dry and clean.

Now- everything works. The camera was turned off overnight and the battery has lost no voltage when tested under load..

This camera is equipped with RB lenses which have no electrical contacts and therefore the camera and lenses can't "communicate" so the meter will not work with theses older lenses.

SOURCE: MIRROR INDICATOR BULB

You cannot change the bulb - the indicator is a sealed unit - mine failed because water got into a crack.  VW will sell you the unit - you need to dismantle the wing mirror to fit it - took me about 20 mins.  Cost of the unit was about £17

My mamiya rz67, which i have never used before, is making this long high pitched noise. i also dont feel the shutter is firing correctly.

Change the battery! This happened to mine too, I was terrified... never knew it took a battery until then, as I don't have a viewfinder with an inbuilt lightmeter. Unfortunately the rz needs it just to run, this is where the rb actually wins. The battery is underneath, you should be able to get a new one from a camera shop.

I want to change focusing screens on my RZ67. The old one is cracked and I'd like to know if it is as straightforward as it seems to change them? Thanks...

YES. Remove whatever finder you are using, remove old focusing screen, use blower to blow out and replace screen. Pretty straight forward. Should be instructions in owners manual.

I have a mamiya RZ Pro two and I am looking to find a digital back for it. If you could offer any guidance and advice I would be very greatful as there seems to be very little help for th RZ film...

Currently . You need a digital back adapter (approx.$1500.00+ US) then the digital back itself (Approx. 25,000+ US). yes that is correct!. THe RZ67 Pro II needs the DM56 adaptor then the DM 56 back itself. Why not check out the all new RZ22 (22mp) or the RZ33(33mp). The RZ22 is approximately $12,000.00 US and the RZ33 around $18,000.00. Hasselblad also make a 39 and a 50mp digital medium format, expect to pay 2-3 times that of a Mamiya. For a 35mm type dSLR, Nikon just introduce the D3X with 24.5 megapixals. The body alone runs anywhere from $6,500-$8000 US.

RZ67 with new battery, lens set, 120 film back set but we get all the time a yellow led warning and the shutter does not work

A yellow led indicates the wind lever isn't cocked, or a weak spring hasn't returned it to the fully up position. A red led says pull out the dark slide.
