Question about Dell E173FP 17" LCD Monitor
This was the same symptom on a Dell 19" LCD monitor I got and after disassembling it found a
shorted transient absorber diode (ZD15) on the power supply board. This diode is a protection diode between the 5V and 12V output. You do not need it
to be in the board but if you want to keep the same
protection on the board I suggest you order a
replacement from Digikey.com or Mouser.com.
You will need to know how to separate the front bezel from the rear casing to get to the power supply board. I have a picture of the power supply board and the bad part is at the bottom left of the board with the designator ZD15.
