Question about ASUS AI Life M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard

2 Answers

My motherboard light is blinking but the computer will not start up. No fans spinning, nothing. My psu was cooked, so I got a new one. Light did not turn on at all with my old psu. Have checked for disconnects.

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes P
c

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it

No fans spinning you need to check to power supply for some instances. Try to use another power supply to test if the power supply is good or faulty already. If that is faulty already you need to replace a new one.

Green light flashing but computer is dead. what to do?

The green light on the motherboard? Your Computer has a few miles on it. It may be the PSU needs replacing. Also replace the CMOS battery and reseat/replace the Memory Mods, if you haven't already. If you unplug and plug in does the computer try to start? Fans spin? LED's blink? Anything? If it starts and shuts down in a few seconds that would, most likely, be a Power Supply issue. Their is a chance, of course, that it's just done.

Green light on my power supply stays lit after unplugging

Usually the light will time out after the capacitor has drained. Your machine is getting a bit old , your PSU may be the problem. If you plug it in and push the on/off button and it blinks, fans spin and shuts down, it's most likely the PSU. Look for a in-line fuse on the Motherboard, if blown, replace. Look at the motherboard closely for damaged components, capacitors, etc.

LOL... If you haven't already fried your motherboard by using your modified PSU (And that's a big IF), then you need to buy a new PSU with similar specs and connection plugs (ie. a 24pin main) as the original PSU that came with the PC.

I have a Gigabyte EX38 DS4 motherboard. A few months ago the power light light would blink after I shut windows down and it wouldn't turn on again. If I unplugged the computer for a while it would stop...

As you may already know, your computer will shut down after power on if if the power supply does not receive a power good signal from the motherboard. Since you already tested the PSU in another computer, and you know the PSU is good, either you have a bad mobo or some device connected to the power supply is draining excessive power from the PSU and causing it to shut down.

Try removing the 4 pin pin power plugs from ALL devices, such as the floppy drive, CD drives etc.
If the system stays on when you power up, then you can isolate the faulty device by re-connecting them one-by-one. If the system still shuts down your Mobo or CPU is bad and you might want to take it to a PC technician to determine if it's worth fixing.

See if you plugged in the 4 pin power connector on the motherboard besides the main power connection on the power supply (usually black colored and its a plastic 4 pin connector)

Try another power supply if all else fails. If new power supply does not work with this unit then its a motherboard which is blown and motherboard needs replacing.

Hope this helps

Dell Dimension E510 will not turn on

It could be.

When you switch on after it has been turned off for a while look at the fan on the PSU as you switch on.

If it spins or tries to spin for a very short time then I would indeed suspect the psu.

If however the psu fan does spin for longer and you can hear any beeps then that would be an indication of a different problem.

Should that be the case then check here.

Same problem

I would try to replace the PSU and see if that makes your computer boot. Do like a guess and check. If its not the PSU, maybe try a new motherboard. Does the computer not boot, or does it beep when turned on? I hope this helps solve your problem

Connecting my PSU to my Motherboard

The bare essentials to start a computer are PSU, Motherboard, CPU, RAM and Video.

Its possible the PSU arrived DOA. Though I've only had 2 DOA PSU's in the 15 years I've been building custom computers.

Hope this helps.
