Canon recomend that you need to bring the printer to your local service provider, canon will not provide Joe Public with the replacement parts as consumables and even more importantly they will not provide the the software to reset the error message.

From what I can see there is a hardware fix for the problem - switch off, hold this down then Hold that down then switch on and then hold this down again, but the hard ware solutions often are merely temporary fixes, and need to be repeated on a regular basis to keep the printers running.

There are a number of websites which claim to provide the software fixes however using these is a kin to sailing in uncharted waters, it is your own choice however I would be hesitant to recommend it to anyone especially if there are a few goverment secrets on your hard disk

My advice is to find out how much your local service center will charge you to replace the ink absorber, then decide whether it is worth the expense. And when it comes time to change the printer remember canon's have ink absorbers which need to be changed by a service engineer

For more discussion on this problem (and many of the hard ware fixes plus a few links to the software reset providers) see the forums on

My ink absorber is full, how do we fix that. Canon pixma mp210 printer. Everytime i want to print that come up.

There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printerwhere the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the inkcartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place itinside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of theprinter to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissuea few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Closethe lid and the printer should now function normally.

Everytime i print documents, the windows show THE INK ABSORBER IS ALMOST FULL CANCEL PRINTING ..pls help me to fix this problem ..thanks

So you probably have a Canon Pixma printer with an error code E27 = "Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full".
These two tutorial videos will teach you:
1. How to clean the MAIN ink absorbers:
But there's a second ink absorber - the PLATEN one - which he does not talk about. The PLATEN is in the black plastic directly underneath the printhead as it slides back and forth. CLEAN THE PLATEN TOO before following the Part 2 video to reset both the MAIN and PLATEN ink absorbers in your software. And don't repeat his mistake when putting the printer back together - the springs he points to at 4:30 WILL fall out! 2. How to reset your printer's internal firmware to remove error alert:
P.S. Of course it is much easier to bring it to ther printer service (even better if your warranty service can do it for free, if the full ink absorbers error was not caused by too intensive printing, i.e. not your fault).

How do I replace the waste ink absorber or keep the printer printing more than 1 document before having to hit resume?

You need a shop to replace the ink absorbers because only Canon shops can use the service mode to reset the counter. If the ink absorber is full and you bypass the errors it will overflow damaging the printer so you need a new one anyway. If the absorber is full it means it's made a ton of prints and needs repair or replacement.

Waste ink absorber almost full. What do I do?

Hi ...

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Please vote if this helps ... Cheers :)

Waste ink absorber is full, won't let me print

I haven't a solution but I cannot find an answer for this problem despite wading through loads of stuff about resetting the counter, which does not solve the problem. Has anyone got a real answer to it please? For Canon- why is this not mentioned anywhere? - the problem- waste ink absorber full. I will soon start taking it apart to find it.
