Printer is giving "Cannot find a document" error for slides

I'm trying to scan in slides. I have been able to scan in 2 sets (8 sildes total), but when I attempt the 3 set of slides it gives me the following error.
"Cannot find a document."

Why would this be happening?

Same thing happening to me. Called Epson they said it is a hardware problem and that I could send it to one of their service centers to repair it. It would probably cost more to do this then buy a new one.

What is the error 017-988 for phaser 6128mfp

It's a scan from PC error. Most common problem is that the destination folder for scan does not exist. Does it give that error on just a plain text document as well? It could be the document type and settings. Hardware wise could also be a main board issue.

Printer will not kick out document automatically, attention lite keeps flashing. tray 2 selected but always defaults back to tray 1

Sounds like you have a mismatch in the paper you are trying to print on and the paper that is loaded in the printer. HP printers look to feed paper from tray 1 anytime the computer settings don't match the paper loaded in tray 2. Tray 1 is the multi purpose tray and prety much any size paper can be loaded in tray 1. Double check your document settings and double check the paper size loaded in the paper tray 2 and make sure they match. Also try printing a different document to see if the error persists. If it does this on everything you try to print you should also double check teh rear guide in the paper tray. There is a rear guide in paper tray 2. If it slides back too far it will make the printer think that paper longer than 8 1/2 x 11 is loaded. Push the paper all the way forward in the tray and push the rear guide until it is snug with the tail end of the paper stack.

I have hp officejet 6110 all- in- one and cannot scan page of text into my computer. Printer gives message "Scanning error. Cannot connect to computer."

If you have updated to Internet Explorer 7 or 8, the HP Director program won't work correctly without the update patch from HP Support. Go to HP Support, put in the model number of the device and search for drivers. Look for a special driver or patch for Internet Explorer and download and install. This will allow the HP director to run from the desktop. Once it is started you should restart your printer and make sure it is connected with a USB, or if it is connected directly to the router for your home network, you should uninstall the printer, then reinstall the printer and see if the computer sees it this time with the new driver on the hard drive. Once it installs, see if the HP Director can be started from the desktop and choose scan document, It will ask what you want to scan and where do you want to scan it to. Click document or picture...I have mine set up to scan text documents as PDF's and Pictures as JPGs. I then set it to "Save to file" when the scanning is done, whether it is one file or many, the director will then ask what folder you want to save the files to. That's all there is to it. Connection issue between XP Pro and HP C6180 all-in-one

Hi Lynn,

Unfortunately, HP.com doesn't have a very satisfying online solution to your problem. Still, there are a few things you can try.

The first is a general diagnostic check of your scanner. HP provides a doc that takes you through some steps, many of which you probably already tried, to see if it's a simple fix:

An error occurred while communicating with scanning device

The next document is a set of diagnostic steps to address errors trying to scan to a PDF:

An error occurred while trying to scan to a PDF

I don't know if the current situation was created by a fault in the device or some recent change in your configuration settings. I do know you can use the HP Director software installed on your computer to set the scan destination settings:

Settting "Scan To" Destination using HP Director

Those were the most relevant solutions I could find for you. I hope some of this information is helpful. Good luck.
