Re: cd player

think you should return this set, they will give you a new one.

many cd players and dvd players are faulty today, or the laser just not precisely adjusted.

Player says error

Most likely your cd/DVD drive needs cleaning, or needs replacement. See a dealer, or send the unit to a Bose service center.

I insert cd but displayed disk error

1. Get your user guide ready,
2. Check the type of CD you insert,
3. Make sure your player is compatible with this particular media type (info should be in technical specifications table somewhere at the end of the manual)
4. If it does, make sure the dics is clean and scratch-free.
5. Make sure the format of media is supported by your device. Some players support VCD, SVCD, DVD etc. but do not support plain data CD which might be the reason of your disk error.

If this problem occurs only at this cd/dvd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case you can, use a Q-tip with isopropylic alchool to clean up the cd lens manually. In case this don't solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Had the same problem at first. The disk must be burned using an "ISO Image"....if you're using Windows Vista, it uses a different format. Google "Free ISO Image Burner" and download one of the free ISO image burners, if you don't have one. Burn the firmware file you downloaded to a CD as an ISO Image, and it should work.

It will not play every dvd has an error message of (bad disc)

This error is caused by one of two things.

1) Dirt on the optical lens - solution use a DVD cleaning disk which can often resolve the issue - you can purchase these at any good Audio store. Insert into drive and play like a normal disk.

Alternatively if you feel confident enough you can open the casing - locate the lens and clean it gently with a Q-Tip and some alcohol cleaning solution. Remember to disconnect the unit from its power supply if you decide to do this.

2) The unit is not reading DVDs because the drive has become misaligned. This is not a user serviceable issue and the unit will need qualified service attention.

Hope this helps. Please do rate this answer. Many Thanks.

Place DVD in any slot and it says "reading disc" then "no disc"

When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

In that case you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only CD, DVD or Blue ray, or for example only DVD-R and not +R , or only to read and not to write and so on. After more prolonged usage , often the unit goes losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD or Blue ray lens cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the drive , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the CD/DVD lens, or the whole drive unit.

Philips hts 6510 no disk prompt does not play dvd

Ok looks llike a lens problem..Try this
Get a lens cleaner CD with liquid..Put two drops of liquid on the brush of the lens cleaner..insert the CD in your drive and play it..If it plays fine otherwise you will need to replace the lens..Get it replaced rather..should run you about 25-50$.If you want to get it repaired give it for repair only in a Philips showroom..
Good luck!
