The hard drive crashed so I bought another (larger) HD for my Acer Aspire 3680. when I try to install OS Win 7, the laptop does not recognize the hard drive, new or old. The install program keeps asking...

The best option is to install WinXP on the new drive, partition the drive
C:, D:, E: etc
and use C for WinXP
Once you are done with WinXP install Win7 in D

let me know

I bought cy25 off ebay, installed HD, but does not reconize it. when install OS, i get blue screen. How do resolve this?

Let me ask you this: Did OS-you didn't say which one- recognize Your HD when you try to install it?If HD is installed properly - then problem is that OS has no drivers for it. Meaning- try another OS.More data would be helpful.

LAPTOP IS NOT TURNING ON

Sir,
) Typically you can start your computer in safe mode by depressing the f8 key at the same time you boot. That will tell your computer to load only the essential drivers and OS components to boot the window screen. From safe mode, you can delete, clean up temp files, or roll back to a new setpoint date when your computer was working. You can try this and clean your system of any p&rn flicks and viruses that may have invaided your system!

2) It is rarely a motherboard failure unless you did some major drop-testing of your laptop computer. Even then the hard drive or memory getting dislodged would be more normal course of action. The manual is very clear on how to open your laptop, check and see if the memory got shocked out of the shocket and check the HD for the same issue. Try removing and reinserting the HD and Memory sticks back into their shockets; then try booting.

3) Msy be your battery might dead. In some systems if the batter is dead it will not take any more charges and will not let you boot. Buy a new battery and replace it.

4) Any drop-testing conducted on your lap-top when it is on would cause major damage to the HD spinning disc to crash into the pickup head. This is called a HD crash and damage the information on the disc. Replacing the disc with even an empty disc at $50 which prop you to load an OS means the HD is trashed. Re-install the HP backup OS and any other software onto the new HD and go on with your life.

Thanks
Good luck

No boot up

i'd see if you could take the disk to a computer store and have them recover the data if it is important to you, and then reinstall a new operating system.  The first rule of computers is that the software is not allowed to damage the hardware, so it's unlikely that your hardware is damaged.  A new hard drive shouldn't cost more than 50$ and should take care of everything after a fresh install if you are too worried about losing your data

Recovery Disc will not work

That's terrible. The right soution should be to try Ashampoo Uninstaller or similar software that gets off EVERY BIT of unwanted software. Use function "Install new applications". It asks for setup.exe, install.exe or similar executable file, that runs Antivirus 360 installer. Point to it. After all the installations completes, "Ashampoo Uninstaller" logs the installation. Now uninstall the unwanted program using "Uninstall logged programs". That's it!
If you really damaged your operating system, do buckup of your important data and reinstall OS

Newly installed HD now PC does nothing

Check the BIOS and make sure it's doesn't still have to old HD in there. Are you seeing anything on the screen?

Hit F12 to get into system setup and find out what HD options you have.
