I unplugged the TV and now the picture is back.I read that the LCD's are vunerable to static build up so unless my daughter is using her TV I unplug it.
I was thinking about getting a large LCD for the family room but I'm not going to until they improve on this technology.
Good luck to everyone!.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Offhand, it does not sound like an LCD issue. If it were, the horizontal lines would be consistent no matter what angle. I am inclined to think more on cable/connector problem. All that is required is to re-seat the connector, arrange the how the flex cable is laid out and ensure that all terminals are connecting right. While this is relatively an easy/quick repair, it would be to your friend's disadvantage if a third party would physically work on the laptop. The laptop has to be opened to expose the connectors/cable. Doing so would void the warranty.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

This should be repairable. It may be the LVDS Cable or the Main board problem. The only other problem is the T-Con Board.
