Trying to put win 7 on hard drive says no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key put in boot disk and nothing

if you have win 7 on a disc and you want to put it on the hard drive , try this
on start up hold down alt+ delete to get into bios
change the boot up from hard drive to cd as primary start up boot up
put the disc in a cd and close it down
restart and the pc should then boot from the disc in the cd drive
you should be able also to simply put the disc in the cd, go to computer , click on the cd drive and run and that should put the win 7 on the hard drive
talk with a computer shop for other ideas as to how to do it if that doesn't work

I had a problem with firefox on my acer one, decided to use rescue disk to reinstall, now all I get is a black screen! The computer starts, no bios screen comes up, but lights flash, external dvd drive...

Your best bet is to take out the hard drive, plug it in to another computer, back it up, and then reinstall with the original disc, then put everything back on.

Download pictures from phone to compuer

Normally, a brand new phone comes with what they called "DATA CABLE". The Data Cable can be plugged into a USB Port. All you need to do is plug the DATA Cable into your computers USB port then plug the phone to the other end. If nothing pops up try to open "MY COMPUTER" for windows XP "COMPUTER" for vista and windows 7. For XP, just open the new drive (most of the time it has your phone model number) then browse through folders till you see your pictures. Then just Copy and Paste it to your Hard Drive. For Vista or Windows 7, after you open the "COMPUTER", you will see the drives on the left side panel. Just click the new drive and that is your phone then browse through the folders till you see your pictures then Copy and Paste it to your hard drive.

Windows comes up showing acer then it goes back off it dont come back on the window goes black.until i turn it back on

Put a bootable CD into the drive and change the boot order in setup to try to boot from the CD first. If it boots, then you know the problem is with the hard drive or with the operating system on the hard drive. Take the hard drive out and slave it to a working computer. Make sure it is the same operating system. You can get an adapter for the cable connection from your local computer store for about $15.00. If you can read the drive on the other computer, then you know the problem is the operating system. Burn all your files to CD or DVD while you have it slaved to the other computer then put the hard drive back into your laptop and then run your recovery discs. After you reinstall the operating system you can reload all your files. If you cannot read the drive when you have it slaved to the other computer, then the drive is toast and needs to be replaced. I hope you have backed up your files regularly.

I want to connect my phone and a hard drive with a usb cable but the laptop doesnt even see it

For the computer to see the connection, the right driver for the usb cable should be installed on your computer. If you haven't done that already,
1) Connect the phone and the computer using your usb data cable
2) Now insert the software CD in your computer CD/DVD drive that came with your phone package
and run the setup to install the drivers.

Now your computer should be able to detect your phone when connected. If you have lost the CD that
came with your phone, then go to the phone manufacturer's website and you can download the drivers
from there.Hope it helped.

CD drive not working

Based on your indication the CD drive is clean, and you know the cables are attached to it, inside the computer. (Flat ribbon IDE interface cable, and 4-pin Molex connector power cable)

1.Go to Device Manager

Left-click on Start. Right-click on My Computer. Go down, and Left-click on Properties. Left-click on the Hardware tab. Go down, and Left-click on Device Manager.

Left-click on the + sign to the left of, DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right-click right on the name of the CD drive.

(Example: Lite On DVDRW LH-20A1P.
eMachines Support indicates the T5212 has a DVD burner drive, and a CD drive. Right-click on the CD drive name))

In the drop down list, Left-click on Properties.
Left-click on the Driver tab
Go below, and Left-click on the Update Driver 'button'. Now go below, and Left-click on OK.

Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Shut your computer down normally. (Start>Turn Off Computer>Shut Down)

Do Not Restart. We need a 'Hard Shut Down'.
Wait 1 minute, turn your computer on.

Still doesn't work?
Let's play hard ball.

2.Go back to Device Manager. Left-click on the + sign to the left of DVD/CD-ROM drives. Right-click on the name of the CD drive. Left-click on Properties. Left-click on the Driver tab.
This time go down, and Left-click on the Uninstall 'button'. Go below, and Left-click on OK

There will be a Microsoft 'squawk box' that comes up. "Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
Left-click on OK. (It IS okay!)

Close all windows. Shut down your computer normally. (Again, we need a 'Hard Shut Down'. To Restart a computer is known as a 'Soft Shut Down')

Wait 1 minute. Turn your computer on.
After Windows loads all the way, and all of your Start Menu programs have loaded, you should see a pop-up out of your system tray. (Bottom of Windows desktop screen)

"Found New Hardware", and perhaps another one, "Found XYZ CD drive". (XYZ = the CD drive name)

No still?

The driver for your CD drive, is located within the Windows XP operating system on your computer.
If your CD drive does not work now, I suggest it has failed.

Drives such as Optical drives, and Harddrives, are mechanical devices. Their 'Lifespan', is rated in so many hours of usage. Your CD drive may be at the end of it's 'Lifespan'.

Computer crashed

Sounds like your hard drive crashed. Try this to see if it helps. Please rate me as a fixya if this helps.
What make of hard drive is in it?
Figure out what brand hard drive it is first. Then go to the website of the manufacturer.
While you are on the site look for software for hard drive repair. It could be listed in many ways. Download the windows version if you have another computer to test this in. If you do not have another computer to test this in you will have to use the Dos version. The instructions will come with the siftware.
Then you will go through these steps.
Do you have another computer that you can use to check the hard drive? If you have another computer or access to another computer you can download a hard drive utility that can diagnose and possible repair the hard drive. Is it a SATA hard drive? If it is a SATA hard drive you can plug it directly into another computer that has a SATA cable. If it is not SATA you will need to buy a converter so that you can hook it up to the other computer. This will be an external slim hard drive enclosure. A desktop hard drive can be put in another desktop and used as a slave drive. Just make sure that you look at the back of the Hard Drive and make put the jumper on the slave pins. Then you can run the test through the other computer to test the Hard Drive. The test will let you know if the Hard Drive is bad or not. If you can see your files on the drive you might want to back them up before you start the test. If it comes back as good go to the next step.

You can boot it up with the recovery CD and run through it as if you were doing a setup and then when the second repaircomes up..... hit repair. This should repair any problem with the operating system. If you want to try the simple way... use the first repair that comes up. When the screen comes up with a blinking curser hit the number 1 then Enter........ When it ask you for a password hit enter. There should not be a password unless someone has put one in it. If there is a password it should be your master password.
Then type fixmbr and hit enter. This will fix your master boot record. If that does not work use the second repair. Sounds complicated but it is not.

CDROM PROBLEMS / Hard Drive Problems

Check your IDE cable inside that plugs into it. This will be the wide cable. Does it light up? Your power supply could be going bad. Unplug them one at a time and see if they work. Look at the jumpers and make sure the last one on the cable is on Master and the other one is slave. Sounds like a bad cable or connection if you swap the cable and see if it works.

Restore hard drive and wipe out everything on it

Dell always send with a new computer one cd to restore the OS of the computer.

If you have this CD put it into the CD drive and boot the computer, follow the instructions on the screen.

Or put an windows CD into drive and boot the computer. If you use this second option you will have to download the device drivers from dell support page.

Best regards
