If you mean that when you let off the clutch pedal and/or engage the blades, the engine dies, lift the seat and make sure the connector is firmly plugged into the switch attached to the seat.

How to change blade boss on briggs &stratton sp 470

Unscrew the central bolt (9/16") - remove blade and any washers etc. It's a conventional right hand thread (anti-clockwise to remove), but may well be extremely tight. If necessary, grind the head of the bolt off and replace it.

The blade boss slides off the shaft - in theory. In practice, you will probably have to use a puller bearing on the blade bolt to pull it off. Remove the drive belt first!

How do I sharpen a lawnmower blade

You have to take the blade off of the mower by taking the center bolt out and if there are other bolts beside the center bolt they also have to come out.
I use a bench grinder to sharpen all of mine and when you put it back on make sure you put it on the right way. Not upside down.Making sure the center bolt is tight but don't strip it. You have to hold the blade when taking it off and if it's too tight I put a block or vice grips on the blade and body so it don't slip.

Does the nuts on the blade go on the top or the bottom to protect them thanks mark.

I assume you have a blade mount that uses two bolts to connect the blade to the shaft.
Put the nuts on the top....facing the deck. If you put them down.....facing the grass they wear off quickly (after about 40 hours of mowing)
When they wear off they get rounded and you will have to use a locking pliers (visegrips) to get them off.

My briggs & Stratton star but they don not

Remove the brass bolt holding the carburetor bowl on and clean it real well. It has some very small holes in it that carry gas up to the carb and may be partially or completely clogged, causing your problem. All holes must be clear.

5hp Briggs & Stratton lawnmower starts but stop running?

Try cleaning the air filter, and check fuel tank for any debris.
Replace fuel filter if there is, and give the fueltank a good cleanout.
Use fresh fuel to refill.
