What steps should I follow to reset/reboot the navigation computer on my 2001 Lexus RX300. I now have the 7.1 version DVD of United States installed. It originally had the 1.0 version. The version 7.1 disk is no longer recognized by the unit and I can not get the cpu to reboot using the updated DVD.

What is the procedure to reset or reboot the navigation cpu on my 2001 Lexus RX300? The navigation system is a generation 2/3 manufactured by Denso...same as Toyota, if this will help.
It stopped reading the updated map version I installed. Had version 1.0 and updated to version 7.1 It worked fine for a short while and now fails to recognize the DVD (disk)

I did this without success..I have also disconnected the battery enclosed in the unit for the same period of time with no success.

Nothing will come up on my nav screen to give me an option to select...

I have attempted all the suggestions recommended even before I've consulted the experts...in fact, at least two suggestions have been simple repeats of an earlier suggestion...no success...one more suggestion please...thanks, Jerry

Lexus RX300 Dealership can run a code to reboot the nav computer you cannot do this yourself unless you unplugged the battery but that could effect other on board systems so ask the dealer before you take the negative cable from the battery.

The bright side of this is the dealer can do this for free as the car is having a issue i know i had many customers tell me that this reset was no charge call them please.

please click the accept button Thanks

Like any computer u must remove power from the unit, consult your owners manual and remove the appropiate fuses that supply power to the GPS, note there may be 2 fuses, one is key on power and one for key off keep alive memory power, another way to do this is just disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.

You should have a reset option in the options menu themselves.

Please make sure that the Update DVD is compatible to the Operating System installed on the Computer.

Furthermore, you may try booting the Computer in the Safe Mode to determine if there is any conflict that may be causing the Computer not to boot normally.

If this isn't a "User Profile" site like "My Yahoo" / "My MSN"/ or a forum.

Try this:

Open Internet Explorer.  Then go to Tools' Internet Options, and then the Advanced Tab.

Reset your Internet Explorer settings with the "Reset" button.

Download this little guy:

http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25

Run All Temp Files cleaner with all options selected.  This will clean out all cached files.

Reboot your PC, and try again.

When I type Shift + @, my new Acer computer give me " and vice versa. How may I alter this?

This is probably a different keyboard layout that you used to know.

  1. Click Start , type intl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
  2. On the Keyboards and Language tab, click Change keyboards.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Expand the language that you want. For example, English (United States).
  5. Expand Keyboard list, select the United States-International check box, and then click OK.
  6. In the Default input language list, click Language name - United States-International (where Language name is the language that you selected in step 4), and then click OK two times.
  7. In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, click OK.

Notice that the Language bar appears on the taskbar. When you position the mouse pointer over it, a ToolTip appears that describes the active keyboard layout
  8. Click the Language bar, and then click United States-International on the shortcut menu that appears.

The United States-International keyboard layout is selected.

Can't type "@" in normal place on keyboard.@ and " are in the wrong place. can you help? thanks

Where Did The @ Go?

There is the possibility that the language setting on the computer has been changed to “The United Kingdom” or came that way through a software update. In either case, the fix is simple and will require a reboot when finished. Go to the control panel and choose Regional and Language Settings. If you are in the States and need the English-United States version of the keyboard, then go through all the tabs and settings and change or add, English-United States to all the settings and locations. On the far tab to the right, make sure to check the boxes for copying the settings to all users. When you click on the administrative tab and change location, you will be prompted to reboot when finished.
