Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
I put a game in my ps2 but when it shows the memory card nothing happens
Can you hear the disc spin? If so, it is probably the lens. Get a q-tip and put a small bit of isopropyl-alchohol (rubbing alchohol) on it and wipe the eye of the lens (usually the blue coloured dot). Check with a game, if it does not work, replace the lens. Replacement lens can be bought from places like the 'bay for cheap. Instructions are also available on the interent for replacing.
Hope this helps!

Try blowing on the little disk reader first, then try wiping the disk reader with a clean cotton shirt. Put the disk in, and listen if the disk spins, if it doesn't it can be one of 2 things.
-if disk doesn't spin
1) the sensor that sensors whether the latch is open(check youtube for bypass)
2)the spin motor is broke (throw out the ps2, and get a new 1)

If this problem happens with the memory card when its in either slot 1 or slot 2
I suggest you clean the contacts of the memory card.
If it just happens when you have in Slot 1 or Slot 2 only,
Go to Radio Shack and get a Can of contact cleaner that has a Brush built into the Spray nozzle.
if you do not have success with that, you must open the PS2 case, and Remove the Controler ports and clean up the whole controller port assembly.
If that doesn't work, and your frustrated and not Electronically skilled enough to do this. I can get the PS2 in tip top shape, for $32 and that includes return shipping. I run the website www.playstationclinic.com
This should put you in business.
