After the decimal the digits are tenths and then hundreths (reading from left to right).

So rounding down to the nearest hundredths would be .10

Circumference = *PI x *Diameter

for an English penny it's - 3.14 X 20.30mm = 63.742

There is a problem with the numbers you quote.

20 x 2/3 = 13.3 boys

You can't have 0.3 of a boy. So round that off to 13 boys. Girls are

20 - 13 = 7 in number. This is the nearest sensible answer.

The 107,186.37 is what the future value would be if the interest per month is 0.58%, which is 6.96% per year. Try the following:

2nd [CLR TVM] 1 2 N 7 I/YR 1 0 0 0 0 0 PV CPT FV

As for rounding, you can change the calculator display to any number of digits (up to a limit, of course) by pressing 2nd [FORMAT] and then a number specifying the number of desired digits after the decimal point or 9 for floating decimal.

**Solve (***x*+ 2)(*x*+ 3) = 12.

- It is very common for students to see this type
of problem, and say:

solve to get x = 10 and x = 9. That was easy!"

So, tempting though it may be, I cannot set each of the factors above equal to the other side of the equation and "solve". Instead, I first have to multiply out and simplify the left-hand side, then subtract the 12 over to the left-hand side, and re-factor. Only then can I solve.

Hi,

To stop the calcultor rounding your answers to the nearest INTEGER, press [2nd][FIX] followed by a number other than 0. For exemple

**[2nd][FIX] 3** will display the numbers with 3 decimal digits.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
