Hi, There is a float under the dishwasher to protect from flooding... If there is a leak and there is water under the dishwasher in the pan then the float switch will turn on the drain pump...
first I could remove the toe panel check in the pan for water... if no water still check the float it maybe stuck up (soap can get under the float and hold it up)
remove water and make sure float in down... if not you may need a new float switch...

Ldf6920st LG dishwasher. Pump runs continuously.

Continuous run of DW "drain pump" is common problem, with simple solution, and without "pulling" the DW!

Because the problem is likely a "stuck float riser assembly", a mechanical "glitch", from crud build up, I recommend trying one "might get lucky fix" first.

Look up above the door and remove (usually two) screws holding two metal "tabs" to bottom of wood counter. This should allow you to "rock" the unit a little. This might allow the float assembly to operate.

A. You have removed and cleaned the screens to the pump inlet and have manually added hot water which the pump removes but the pump just continues to run, even when you open the door? You should still be able to use controls to shut unit off. If not, you should be able to turn DW off at circuit breaker panel. Find and open the breaker any how, because "I'm sending you in!"

There are two sheet metal "plates" about 4 inches high, 24 inches wide below the door on Bosch (and others) dish washers. Remove both, usually they can just be carefully removed.

Lay with face on floor and use flashlight to look "up and into" the left bottom side of the DW. About a foot into the bottom left side of the unit look for a red or orange (usually) plastic rod about the size of a pencil rising vertically out of a thin plastic "tank". This is a "sump" of some sort (???) and the bottom of the rod is a "float". The top of the "pencil" activates a micro switch. Junk in "tank" or on micro switch stops rise of the rod which keeps pump running.

Carefully, manually lift the orange rod with a long wooden spoon. Several times. You should hear the micro switch click. Don't be sticking screwdrivers or anything metal in there. Even with the power off.

Turn breaker back on. This may solve most common problem in first five years for many brands of dish washers.

Good luck.

Bosch dishwasher starts, pumps, stops and says it's clean

Here is what I found that makes my bosch dishwasher come on. It has the same problems as the OP. I pick the cycle I want press start. The DW will sound like it's trying to drain. I let it run that cycle which takes about 30 seconds. It then starts another cycle that sounds different from the first and when it stops I turn the DW off and then back on, it resets and then it starts the wash cycle. I've done this twice and it has worked both times. I do not know what is causing this but it's better then what I had to do to get it to reset.

My kenmore dw just stopped running thru cycles except drain

Hello, With the information you supplied I'm going to assume the light is blinking 7 times and pausing then blinking 7 times and so on. With the door cracked open hit the following button combination: -high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry Then close the door and hit cancel. The pump will run for a few moments and then you should be all set. Hope this helps Mike

Bosch SHX46A (6 years old) Selected regular cycle, pressed On and closed door. Cycle did not start normally. Pump runs, but no water is coming into the DW. I confirmed the water supply line is turned on....

From your description, I doubt that the problem is door latch is the cause.
The first thing that a modern dishwasher does before it begins to fill with water is run the drain pump.  It appears that this DW is not progressing to the next cycle (inlet water) and because the pump runs even when the door is open, I agree that the controller card may have failed.
If possible, inspect all the wire connections (remove main power before you do this) ... if there is a loose connection, the controller could do odd things.
Good Luck!  Please report back what you find, OK?

Dishwasher quit during cycle.

Need a little more info.. anyway.. open dr will shut off dw...close dr.. push power button until power on... lights on, but nothing happen.. try holding down drain and one of wash cycle.. repeat holding drain w/other buttons until you hear drain pump running.. make sure you hold both buttons for a few seconds.. if your drain pump works.. then, you might have a problem w/your wash motor or something is stuck in the impeller area.

Dish washer that does not pump out the water on it"s final cycle

I had this same problem and after having the repairman over to our house several times and having the circuit board changed, I figured it out on my own...

It turns out that the pressure created from the steam during the water heating stage (HO) was pushing on the door latch just enough to prevent the motor from running properly. Because the door wasn't latched completely, the water wouldn't drain and the dishwasher would go to the "Drying" cycle without ever pumping the water out of the basin.

I adjusted the levelling on the DW and that helped, but I'm still not sure that the problem is fixed. We may need a new latch assembly.

To test this, when the DW stops running at any time, push on the door. If the motor kicks back on, this is the problem.

Bosch Dishwaher shy56a

Bosch dishwashers have a seperate pump for washing and another for draining. Try making it fill more than once. There is usually a timed fill and the float stops it before it overfills It also might prevent it from washing without enouth water Try defeating the door switch and play with the float during fill. There may be a sensor that won't let it go into wash. Be prepared to get a little wet if it should start up suddenly. A slightly safer way is to fill it with the sprayer from the sink. and see if it will go into wash.
