Battery won't charge

So put the old power cord back on since you say it charged the battery normally. Why did you change it if it was charging the battery? It's quite possible that the new power cord is faulty. Just because it is new does not mean it works.

Remove the battery and plug the new power cord in. Does it boot the laptop up? Are you able to function with the new power cord plugged in. If so, then your battery is more than likely dead and needs to be replaced. The battery only has a useful life and once it is completely bad it will not charge.

My new battery is not working with my Sony vaio laptop

What do you mean the new batter is not working? Does the computer turn on with the Power Cord? If not, the power cord is bad and cannot charge the battery. I have seen times when new batteries are defective. The new battery does not come charged so you have to plug in the power cord and let it charge overnight.

Laptop will not charge battery. Issue with internal power converter, etc.

The motherboard has charging circuits built in to regulate the charge to the main battery, in rare causes it fails leaving a choice to attempt a repair or replace the motherboard. I suspect this is what has happened to your system.

How many hours to charge a new acer 4738?, mine is too long to charge, is it natural if new?

A brand new battery has to be charged for 8 hours. For any battery related issue, a reset or calibration can be done.Just drain all the charge in the battery by using the laptop only on battery power( ie,with the Charger/Adaptor disconnected). After the comp shuts down due to no power, then charge the battery for 8-10 hours and then check if its fully getting charged or not
At times a BIOS update can fix battery related issues.

Acer aspire battery won't charge

There is a battery cycle reset in BIOS. try that first. If not see if you still have manufacturer warranty to get a new battery.

Battery not getting charged-power supply on ac power

hi thanks for using fixya!!

Is your laptop is brand new? Try to remove the battery. Then, try using your laptop and AC adapter without the battery, you will get the power supply directily from AC adapter. If it works properly, then its okay. Now, try to install back your battery then try to charge it. If not charging, perhaps you need to buy a new battery. However, I suggest you bring your laptop to a service technician to further check the error, before you purchase a new battery.

If you need further assistance, let me know!

Getting hot underneth

Both batteries could be dead. But if you bought a new battery, it's unlikely. I don't know what green light you see, but if it's on the power adapter, it just means it's turned on--not that it is charging.
Two possibilities: Your power adapter is bad or the motherboard is bad. Because you say the computer works if plugged in, then you have ruled out the adapter.
You should be checking/cleaning the battery contacts and if all else fails, going for a new motherboard.
