Question about Car Audio & Video
Do you have the FORD removal tool? Looks like a big U with small points on each end, which slip into the holes on the front of the radio housing and release the clip catches that are mounted to the sides of the radio. Without the tool, you can try using a strong coat hanger, (not the wimpy white painted ones, but the stronger steel ones), cut and bend this into the U shape, push it into the holes, and push out slightly to each side to spread the clips you can't see inside the housing area. If this doesn't work, try your local AutoZone, Advance, or O'Reilley's, Pep-Boys, ect. and see if they have the tool and will "loan" it to you for the few minutes it takes to do this. Putting it back in is no problem, you just line the mounting slides up, and push it back in. You will hear the clips attach. It's a little difficult, even with the tool, sometimes you have to wiggle the tool a little to get these clips/catches to release. Only on a Ford. I suppose it helps to keep people from just ripping it out of the dash. But, it can be difficult at times, even with the FORD tool.
