Question about Broadcom (BCM94318MPG) 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

I've tried to wireless adaptors in this machine

Basically the same problem. The computer is a Emachine. I reboot the machine after installing the software and installing the card and it comes up with an error for the installation. Driver cannot be located. Code 28 if memory serves me correctly (the machine is at a the girlfriends house). I've tried a USB G from Time Warner and a LInksys PCI G card, both with the same results. Her OS is XP 64. Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

Windows WiFi Fix,

Windows Zero Wireless Configuration is one of the best programs to run a WiFi in Windows XP or Vista. Most of the other software packages that come with the different adapters have been poor at best in keeping a connection through Windows. Here is the best guide to get you back up and connected.

Windows XP:

Click Start
Right click on My Computer
When a window pops up click on properties
Click on the Hardware tab
Click Device Manager
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista:

Click Start Logo
Right Click Computer
Click Device Manager
Windows will ask you about opening Device Manager Click Continue
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Make sure ur using 64 bit drivers ... go to the website and download the newest drivers first (use a wired adapter ((Lan)) to do this ) open "my network places...property page" by right clicking "my network places" then see if your adapter is listed on the 'network connections' page.....if it is right click on it and scroll to the properties at bottom and click...then go to the'configure' button on top click on it...see if the device is working...if not uninstall all the old drivers by clicking on the driver tab and click uninstall....now u need to install the new drivers you downloaded ...click update driver and then "No" to use web to search then click next...now click on from a specific location and direct it to the folder you downloaded the driver to...desktop etc..and install the new driver. see if this corrects the problem.

Are your drivers for XP 64? If not, they will not work.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Hi Good Day,

1) Try this simple steps:

click on the windows logo (START BUTTON) then right click on computer then left click on properties or system properties then click on device manager then under network adopter look for wireless LAN make sure it doesn't have an X mark if so the driver for your wireless card is not installed.

if your computer still under warranty then you bring it back to the store where you purchase it have them replace it with a working computer.

2) try connecting your computer via ETHERNET cable and if your able to connect to the internet that way it mean that there's a hardware / software problem with your wireless adopter installed in your computer.

WPA is not very stable and I have seen many problems with this. Simply change router setting to be configured with WEP and use a good strong password in hex 0-9 and a-f . WPA is horrible any way, and who the heck is gonna sit out side your home to hack it? It is not a WIN 7 problem but more like aging encryption.

I understand you need an A2PD compliant bluetooth adaptor. I’ve just installed one on my PC at work, asked Windows to look for updated drivers on the internet and it has installed correctly.
You can get an A2PD adaptor from Amazon for £1.50 here

Emachine w3107 reboots when windows xp loads

These kinds of issues are most often related to driver conflicts. First thing you need to do is reboot your PC while holding F8, until you receive the menu about booting in to Safe Mode. Try booting in to Safe Mode.

If you can get in to Safe Mode, disable any new devices you have recently installed, reboot again, this time letting it try to boot all the way to Windows.

If it reboots again, go back in to Safe Mode and disable/uninstall something else.

Basically, it is a process of elimination. Safe Mode loads a very minimal set of system drivers, so if you can boot in to Safe Mode but not in to full Windows, the problem is one (or more...) of the drivers that load in Windows but don't load in Safe Mode.
